Re: Excessive noise
<<<It always lasts just into the beginning of the tape>>> Can I suggest a couple of clarifications? No matter where or how you start the actual tape, the performance or show gets messed up. <<<I'm using line in & headphone ports.>>> Probably not if you're using a Windows Laptop. Are you? More th...

<<<AUDACITY 1.2.6!>>> If you're on Windows XP or before, that works just fine, but the more modern operating systems don't fully support Audacity 1.2. You can create some serious damage or program loss by upgrading your computer and not pulling Audacity with you. That said, the most cutting edge Aud...

Re: Open Letter to all...
Yes, the zoom tools get a good workout when I'm cutting material. If you have a drumbeat or other sharp sound to use as a sync point, that makes the job that much easier. Zoom into the impact and slide around. Hollywood has been doing that for decades. http://www.officialmovieproducts.com/clapboards...

Right click the file > Properties > Advanced. Does Windows think it's an MP3 file, or something else?

Re: Help needed with distorted audio
<<<I made it a MPEG-4 AVI file>>> What did YouTube want you to do? If you made an MPEG4 compressed show and submitted it to YouTube, then chances are, YouTube had to uncompress it and then recompress it in its own format, causing a little more damage at each step. AVI is a very old Windows format an...

Re: "click" from coaxial cable
If the show is clicking with the RCA cables, then the player is damaging the show while it's playing the disk. Is this a home burned Music CD? What happens if you try it with a store-bought Music CD.

Re: Unsupported files conversion
Audacity is a terrible converter. If you're going to use Audacity for editing or post production, you have to approach it with files already in a format it understands.
Look at Super or Switch to convert your files to other formats. One of them is free.

Re: sharing audacity files btwn Mac & Windows
One more item. Audacity doesn't save UNDO with the Project. So if you don't have access to the original music clips and files in both locations, you can easily dig yourself a serious hole.

Re: sharing audacity files btwn Mac & Windows
But you might be ready for oddities. Do that 30 second production, seriously. We have one poster that did everything correctly -- had Audacity copy all files (Safer), but when the project got to the other end (cross platform, like you) the sound was perfect, but the blue waves vanished. I don't know...
