Re: Normalize > DC Removal

So the chances of outright damage are really tiny. I've gone back to using it for all my weekly production and I've been recommending it. <<<On...

Normalize > DC Removal
We understand that all Normalize > DC Removal does is center the waveform top to bottom and damage can occur if the performer herself is non symmetrical. The question is how does it do it? Worst two peaks, push the wave and have a happy day, or calculate the area under the curves / integral and then...

Re: recording amplitudes '0' not coinciding
It's like you grabbed your whole blue waveform and pushed it straight up or down a little? That's DC offset and it can make editing and production a nightmare. I don't know why it would do this, but download audio shows seem to change depending on the machine. I can download the same work on two dif...

Re: Keeps saying my files are corrupted
I'm not sure where to go with that.
Download either of these MP3 files and see if they open up OK They're six seconds each.

Re: How do I do this?
Sorry. That was two ideas at once. You can use Tracks > Add New to produce a new blank track below all the others (assuming that's not the seventeenth track -- you only get 16). You can put the new work in that and then change the timing and volume with the two tools mentioned. Envelope Tool. That's...

Re: How do I do this?
I would be recording the new piece either in its own Audacity or that Audacity on a fresh track. Then use the Time Shift and Envelope tools to put the new segment into place and fade out the old and fade in the new as needed. Audacity 1.3 has the ability to start recording anywhere you wish with Tra...

Re: Printable Audacity Manual
Writing the manual, FAQ, or instructions is like pushing hot pins in your flesh compared to the joy of programming and product development. So it frequently doesn't get done. We're up for volunteers to collect all the fragments in the Audacity pantheon and publish the book in PDF. Hands? Anyone? htt...
Re: CRASHING
We've been telling people to abandon Audacity 1.2 like a sinking boat and go to one of the 1.3 versions, but some of them have serious issues. If you don't need Export Multiple, go with the current 1.3.10.

<<<After D & D a wma audio file >>> We'd like to discourage using abbreviations in a question. Dungeons and Dragons? Audacity doesn't accept Windows Media files. It may seem to work for a brief time, but sooner or later, the system will go face first in the mud. Convert the WMA files to WAV usin...
