<<<it didn't even occur to me to check to see if all I have to do is change the extension..>>> Most of the time, the file type is burned into the file header in addition to the filename extension. It will try to open and then become damaged or crash. Most successful people use the real, uncompressed...

<<<and then combining them.>>>
Combining them, or converting them to stereo? Those are different.
Can you ever hear stereo at all?
Try to play the Left-Right-Mono test from here...

<<<it does not sync up to the other tracks.>>> That's called latency if it's the same delay across the whole performance, and you can adjust it with the latency adjustments in Audacity 1.3 preferences. I couldn't tell you where. It s different on different versions. There's nothing wrong with your o...

Re: Sound return in headphones
Yes it is. You're talking about listing to yourself sing, right? That's one of the serious shortcomings of using your computer to do everything during a recording. Dig in Audacity Preferences (I think) Audio I/O. Hardware Playthrough and Software Playthrough are the two settings that affect your pro...

Re: Compatibility with Sound Boards
<<<Are they compatible?>>> Oh, the sound cards are, but the software drivers probably aren't. M-Audio uses very excellent ASIO drivers which Audacity doesn't support. Find out if there are Windows drivers for your device. I'm working from fuzzy memory... Uninstall your device from the Windows Contro...

Re: Recording Past Allotted Disk Space Time
The best thing that can happen is the live capture gets to the end, crashes and starts over. This leads to the complaint that they have four hours of work but only can listen to the first fifteen minutes. They don't really have four hours of work. If you really play your cards right, Windows will cr...

Re: Low Level Using Microphone & Lightsnake USB
Y'know, since you're on a Mac, you don't need the USB part of that thing. You can go into the Stereo Line-In. I have one of these... http://www.zzounds.com/item--PEVPV6 ...and I plug it into my Macbook Pro with a (cheaper) cable similar to this... http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productI...

<<<The reason I mention this is that one of the recording options I get on audacity.>> There are two ways to set Audacity inputs. The quicky way is with the drop-down menus on the work window, but a much better way is with the Audacity Preference panels. If you're on Vista, there are new rules. http...

Re: PLEASE HELP
<<<i have a m-audio mobilepre usb.>>> That may kill you right there for two reasons. Audacity doesn't directly support ASIO drivers and M-Audio uses ASIO. The interface doesn't seem to have any Line-In connections. Or it only has one, which I'm guessing gives you a mono show. It would be a juggling ...

Re: Stick UNDO to each track?
It's scary that I ran out of Audacity so quickly. 16 track editing, indeed.
