Re: DVD-Audio

Most sound compression is destructive and you don't recover no matter what format you convert it to. If you convert to WAV, the destruction and damage in the MP3 is perfectly preserved -- It doesn't get worse.

Re: Recording with Electric Drumset

You need to tell Windows (I'm assuming) to watch the USB input rather than the built-in microphone. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel You may also have to go to the Audacity Preferences and change that to match. Restart Au...

Re: ITUT201SVR Damaging records

You didn't buy a precision phonograph, you bought a throw-away turntable. Those have a very poor reputation here. One of the elves bought one and was so unimpressed with the needle tracking and speed variation that he got his real, older turntable out of the attic, fixed it up and uses that. Take it...

Re: DVD-Audio

iTunes was designed to work on Mac or Windows. iPods (the ones I know about) connect to both FireWire or USB.

It should be possible to connect one of these between the iPod and the radio.

Download Super or Switch. Both are good converters and I believe they both have trial offers.

Re: 20 minute MP3 files sounds horribly compressed.

You can get damaged playback when the song you have isn't the format you think it is, or a format that Audacity can manage.

Does the song play on any other player? Windows Media? iTunes?

Re: DVD-Audio

You could buy a nice iPod and install iTunes on your computer -- either type. Apple AAC format will do about twice the music at the same bit rate than MP3 will. At just High Quality, you can get billions of stereo songs on an iPod.

Re: Which Reel to Reel

<<<can u buy the tape?>>>

You want to make reel to reel tapes? You started out the question with wanting to play some old tapes in a box. Recording new tapes involves machine setup for each tape type and oxide layer. That's a lot harder.

Re: Ipod to stereo connection

<<<to the stereo as well with the same cable.>>>

The output of a healthy iPod is stereo. Plug you ear buds into the iPod and see if maybe you need to jiggle it a bit to get it to work.

It sounds a great deal like you have a busted cable.
