Re: Do plug-ins like these exist?
You can simulate that. Apply Edit > Select > All and then Effect > Amplify with the default values. That will make the capture really tall so you an see what you're doing. Zoom in to each abrupt transition (select the area and Control-E) and set a label. Control-B I think. Zoom back out full Control...

<<<Other than this new problem, Audacity works perfectly.>>> It shouldn't. Audacity 1.2 is not supported on Intel Macs under Leopard or Snow Leopard. <<< I've been recording stuff with Audacity 1.3>>> 1.3.10 has a known problem with multiple export. Upgrade to 1.3.11 from the nightly build. And now that I told you that, I can't find them... You can help. Try searching the forum for "Export Multiple." I know this is very old news, but I'...

Re: DVD-Audio
Or maybe not. If your capture masters are sub-standard, then you get killed when a New Technology comes out. Fraunhofer designed MP3 in 1989. You can get twice the compression at the same or better quality with M4A or Apple AAC format -- but only if you don't have substandard masters. What kind of c...

Re: Changed PC want to import all music
It's probably more serious than that. If your computer ran out of space in two hours, you have very much not enough room on your computer. See how much stuff you can push off to an eternal hard drive or thumb drive. Audacity captures take up roughly 700 MB per hour. Your computer needs to have room ...

Re: My Lame MP3 ("export to") is greyed out on set-up
Intel Macs running Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6 do not support Audacity 1.2. I use Audacity 1.3.7 from here... Audacity 1.3.7 -- Mac http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-macosx-ub-1.3.7.zip ...on both Intel Macs. You can go with 1.3.10 which is the latest public release from here... Au...

Re: Changed PC want to import all music
We normally tell people you can't move an Audacity Project. They're insanely brittle and can be complicated depending on the content of the show. More than one poster has drilled his/her show into the mud by "just moving it to a new computer." If you have a show where you imported music fr...

Re: Burning to CD
CD-R. Accept no substitutes. Buy a short stack of Sonys at any Office Store until you get the process down. That will eliminate the ratty blank problem. You can experiment with cheap blanks later.

Re: no sound
Did you get the bouncing red recording meters while you were recording the show and did you get two lines of blue waves? Anything like this (Your pictures may not exactly match)? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg That means you captured a show and now we just need to figure out whe...
