Re: How to change from .dvf to wav...
You need to use a conversion program to change the quality of the contents of the file. Just changing the file extension or name will damage the file. Download and install Super or Switch (one of them is free) on your computer. Open your sound file in that program and export or save to WAV format. A...

Re: Line-In With GNX3000
Recordings on Windows machines have to filter through the Windows Control Panel. Plus, if that all goes OK, Audacity Preferences > Audio I/O. There is also the completely erroneous assumption that listening to the show and recording it are the same thing. Well no, especially on a computer, where the...

Re: Error message
There's a list of legal ones. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore and dash. That's it. I have to push files all over the world with sometimes odd tools, so I don't use spaces, either. NateVoice20100102.wav If you're going to get killed, it's always a date. Slashmarks are insanely evil....

Re: higher sampling rates?
48000 does not actually go to 20KHz without tricks. It only goes out to 18.4. (Nyquist 2.6).

Re: Cross Platform Usage
<<i tried to trick audacity by editing the AUP file but there is something i'm missing.>>> It's not much of a trick. That's the accepted way to do it, but it is programming language and you can't make mistakes. Also, did you get both listings? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg The "blob&q...

Re: DVD-Audio
Audacity is a terrible converter. Use Super or Switch (download) or iTunes conversion tools or, for the really rolling in cash, QuickTime Pro ($30).

Re: DVD-Audio
The show default sample rate is a little schizophrenic. It starts with the Preferences value, but then changes to the sample rate of the first loaded clip. I think it's whichever one is higher, but I'm not sure about that one. It causes quite a few blank looks and I would just as soon it didn't do t...

<<<I am working on a UK PAL 25 fps release, which is derived from a Digital Beta master tape (but sadly the master tape does not include the newly created 5.1 Dolby Digital EX and 6.1 DTS mixes>>> It wouldn't. DigiBeta only supports two AES/EBU streams (four audio channels total). DigiBeta also does...

Re: Re-Timing AC3 audio
However, I am pushed to ask (now that I think about it without the holiday pressure), how did you get the video? The object of successful television standards conversion is to start and end with a, say, 60 minute show. 60.000 minutes, both sides. The framerate is irrelevant. The only time you get du...
