Re: Delay in recording and playback track
Digital sound is usually described in three numbers, like 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. That's the specification of Music CD audio. The first number, sample rate is the fineness of breaking sound up into digital numbers. That generally affects whether or not you have clear, sparkling sound. The second, bit ...

Re: Recording level changes
We may be able to avoid having this problem at all if we could find what you're doing. What are you doing? Recording a live performance of you singing? Recording a vinyl record? Recording from an internet show? If you are using specialized hardware such as mixers or USB devices, we need to know that...

Re: Recording levels
I think the surprise is that the cassette machine worked, not that the turntable didn't. Throw-away turntables aren't very well thought of on this forum. They create all sorts of problems. Typically, USB devices have fixed sound levels and that creates all sorts of additional problems as you're find...

<<<Oh, in other words it sucks to be me right now, or at least me with my current sound card (which is on board).>>> One of the disadvantages of "mix-out" is its ability to run two or more sound services at the same time (people normally think this is a grand and glorious thing). The entir...

Re: my computer shuts off
You can get problems like that if you have a bad memory stick or you run out of hard drive space. If you've been doing this forever, you probably have a really good large pile of sound files by now. Where are you putting them other than your system drive? Do you ever error check your hard drives and...

Re: Re locating data files
It defaults to the system hard drive because wherever you put it has to be fast, stable, and very well behaved. If your computer has any troubles managing data on and off the memory card, Audacity will either crash, or may give you captures with holes or segments missing. Live production of sound or...

Re: Help With Noise Removal In Classical Piano Piece
The Famous Griffin iMic! Famous for being one of the worst audio interface devices ever. They use battery from the computer to run their internal services and they're not particular about how they filter or smooth it before using. This is the device that will let you hear the hard drive inside your ...

Re: sounds great in Audacity, sounds bad in iTunes
OK. That's a lot clearer. That's a very fancy sound meter that can tell you very roughly the pitch of musical tones by which stack of dinner plates gets taller. It's entirely graphic. It's very difficult to derive any useful sound information by watching it -- but it's pretty. iTunes has its own vol...

Re: Recording detects sound even though nothing is playing
No. It's worse than that. Your sound card is noisy on one side as compared with the other My sister has that. No matter what she records or captures, it always has this slightly higher noise floor on the right. You could replace your sound card. If you're using the one built into your system board, ...

<<<i can't really tell if Quicktime has the same problem or not as the graphic equalizer goes up and down depending on where you have your volume set>>> Maybe I'm closer to this than I think. Where are you getting the equalizer from? QuickTime Pro 7.6.4 and iTunes 9 don't appear to have graphic equa...
