Re: Compressor usage
The compression tools in Audacity tend to be mathematical abstractions and not finished sound tools. Chris's Compressor is a packaged sound processing tool that I use to even out volume changes similar to what you have. Give it a shot. Pull down piano2.wav from here...

...and send that six-second piano solo through your pipeline. It's a 48 KHz sound clip seemingly like yours. Does the export buzz?

Re: Mp3 and Wav exports have and annoying feeback sound
Before you open up one of these file in Audacity, open it up in QuickTime Player and Apple-I INFO panel. What does that say? This thing has suspicious format running all through it. It sounds to me like somebody recorded the material too close to a very large, old, glass TV set or monitor and the he...

<<<Someone is going to lose money.>>>
Darn.
You're on batteries, right? No connection to the wall?
If that's the case, your Mac may be broken. It's really rough to mess up the built-in microphone, unless the Mac is having difficulties.

Re: Loud electronic buzz
Oh, don't give up yet. I want to be crystal clear. If you turn the turntable off, disconnect it completely , and connect the entertainment sound system, it still buzzes? That's important. Cheap turntables have been know to create all sorts of damage, some even just by being connected. Now disconnect...

Re: Loud electronic buzz
Just a wacky thought. Does the problem go away if you turn your speakers off while you're recording? Like the Audacity red recording lights are bouncing, but you mute your speakers so you can't hear what's going on. Make a very short recording and see.

Re: Loud electronic buzz
Does it still do that if you temporarily disconnect the power supply and network cables and run the Mac on batteries? You can get serious buzz and hum problems if the wall power between the Mac and the other stuff is ratty or actually wired wrong. Both of my houses had at least one wall socket where...

Re: Want to create a multi track CD
Namaste.
Just a point here. A Music CD will not play back four individual sound tracks at the same time. You want to create a simple playlist and be able to play any one song with the CD player's skip and play buttons, right?

Re: Recording level changes
Unless you stop them, sound systems like this assume you're trying to make a video conference or iChat session. They apply automatic volume control and echo cancellation to your show -- sometimes whether you want them to or not. You can root around in the Windows Control Panels and see if there are ...
