Re: Speed of playback
<<<I am now at home trying to duplicate this problem and cannot.>>> No, you won't. As I said earlier, this is one of those "this can't be happening" problems. I don't think we have any idea. So here's the deal. Y'all get to find out what's common. Like you're all using Dell computers or yo...

Re: best settings for the best voice recording?
The best settings for voice recording are to use the "Britney Mic" like this... http://enquirer.com/editions/2001/11/11/britney1_zoom.jpg ...or a tie tack microphone. This is the one we use for our training sessions. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102927 You clip th...

Re: Recording Quality
I would find out how to turn Skype off. Skype Does Not Play Well With Others. Skype got their reputation of working when nobody else will by a scorched earth policy. It viciously takes over and reconfigures all other sound services when you run it. It doesn't matter what else you're doing or what ot...

Re: Cross Platform Usage
You are the poster child for why we tell people you can't move an Audacity Project. Even if you know all the spells, sometimes it just doesn't work, or it moves with pieces damaged or missing. You're only looking at the fuzzy top level of this -- getting the filenames right. There are also system pe...

Re: Delay in recording and playback track
The pencil tool allows you to change the sample points in your sound. If you magnify your work (select and Control-E) and do it many times, you will eventually get to the point where you can see the individual digital sample points (little dots on the blue wave). The pencil tool will allow you to se...

<<<Whilst recording either from my Laptop or CD player onto the Desktop with Audacity >>> Say that again and use more words. You're recording from your external CD player through a wired connection to your laptop? I need to create your work area in my mind. We all do. Do you mean you're using Softwa...

Re: Truncate Silence crashes Audacity 1.3.10 on Mac
I use Audacity 1.3.7 for everything. 1.3.10 has serious export issues and may have other problems as well. However, you are editing a seriously large show. How much memory do you have, how large are your hard drives(s) and how much room do you have? Are you running any other software at the same tim...

Re: Record Player won't play through Mac
<<<Macs don't have "playthrough">>>
They don't have Hardware Playthrough. They do have Software Playthrough as noted although you will notice a significant delay between the Mac speakers and the actual performance. That's just the way it is.

Re: Bass reduction on recordings
<<<within a recording which i have completed from a music tape.>>>
These are all the magic words of someone who took a camcorder to a music festival or concert where the powerful bass in the live performance destroyed the microphone and the recording.
Did I hit it?
