Re: Hissing sound
Hiss is difficult because the tools can't tell the difference between the interference and your voice pronouncing sibilants. SSisster SSuzy SSits SSerenely... That and the Noise Removal in Audacity 1.2 is a concept experiment, not a working tool. You can get much better noise removal in Audacity 1.3...

Re: Exported mp3 or wav file is blank
Audacity default bit depth is 32-bit floating, not the much more common 16-bit. Change in Audacity preferences and then restart Audacity.
You can convert your existing show to 16-bit.
Depth Conversion
-- Track Name > Set Sample Format > 16-bit PCM

Re: How do you export to iTunes?
Two steps. Finish editing your show and File > Export As WAV. Call it something with upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash and underscore. No other characters in the name -- certainly not dates. Control-Click on the new file > Open With > iTunes. If the music fails to open, it could be because...

Crash Recovery http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery Of course, you need to find out why Audacity crashed. No, that's not normal. People who do this for a long time and then suddenly start having troubles can be suffering from a shrinking hard drive or a drive which hasn't been ...

Re: exporting file as an MP3
In Audacity 1.2 you change the MP3 exported bit rate in the Preferences. Restart Audacity after you change it.
32 is the minimum for a mono show.
64 is the minimum for a stereo show.
300 and up is very nearly (but not quite) perfect.

Re: beat does not play when i record. . .
The short answer is no. Macs don't support Hardware Playthrough (Audacity > Preferences) and Software Playthrough is seriously late -- usually too far off time for live music. If you use Audacity 1.3, you can listen to your old track in one ear and your current performance with the other. Audacity 1...

Re: Sony Voice Recorder
Audacity is a complete slave to the computer that's running it. If the computer can't see the recorder or the sound files, Audacity will never see them, either.

Re: dj-set recording problem
We know what the problem is. the computer is expecting a tiny, wispy, delicate mono microphone signal and you're delivering a massive, powerful, Line-Level Stereo signal. The distortion is the computer crying for help. Most Windows PC laptops don't lend themselves to doing what you want. You can do ...

Re: Which plugin should I use to...
No plugins. The long way around is (in 1.3) put clip one on track one, put clip one on track two (Track > Add Stereo Track) and use the time Shift Tool (black left and right arrows) to push it around until they appear one after the other. Then put clip one on track one again and Time Shift it so it ...
