Re: Recording Quality
<<<That is quite interesting about exporting files to the Maxtor>>> That's not what he said. Export the work as stand-alone, high quality WAV sound files and move them over to the external drive. Audacity will not Save a sound file. It only saves Projects and you can't move Projects. Koz

Re: Why Do EQ Adjustmenst Not Work?
The last two generations of modern Macs will not run Audacity 1.2.
In that sense, it's perfectly stable.

Re: Fade but not out
In other words, duck the orchestration when the announcer starts talking? Did I hit it? This is still the place for the envelope tool, but you may decide to listen carefully on good speakers or headphones as you adjust it. The amount of ducking depends a lot of the character of the orchestration and...

Re: Splitting an analog microphone signal
You can't split USB because USB is a bi-directional communications channel. It's not a garden hose you can easily split into two hoses. Is the second computer a deskside with a full audio card? If so, you can split your headphone signal with a "Y" cable and plug the second feed into the Li...

Re: Cannot record streaming audio w/ audacity & soundflower
It's one of the objections I had to SoundFlower. All it does is provide the signal pathways. It's up to you to find them -- and they're not clearly labeled.

Re: Splitting an analog microphone signal
<<<Is it possible to somehow "split" the microphone signal to achieve this, >>> No, but not for that reason. You do not have a "microphone." You have a computer microphone which is sending its tiny voice signal to the computer, but it's also getting battery from the computer to r...

Re: after audacity editing
One Quick Fix might be to export the edited music as a different filename. That's where my piano2.wav clip came from. The original piano clip before editing was piano.wav. Export the new music to the desktop, right-click on it and Open With ... iTunes. I can't exactly follow your editing pipeline, b...

Re: Why Do EQ Adjustmenst Not Work?
Does the selected area sound different? If you make an equalization change that doesn't change the waveform very much, you may not be able to see it -- but you should be able to hear it. What kinds of changes are you trying to make? You select a portion of your show, open Effect > Equalization, push...

Re: Exporting MP3 fles in mono
There's a festival of problems. Let's cure the original one first. If you make an MP3 with too low a bit rate -- too low a quality, it will sound bubbly, gargly and muffled. That's how MP3 works. You can change that quality in Audacity Preferences. 32 is the minimum for mono, 64 is the minimum for s...

Re: Problem loading older projects
This is the idea. This is a simple AUP file as a graphic to make it wide enough. Count lines down from the top ignoring the spaces and you might be able to see the damage in your file.
