Re: Mike input mystery
We progress. That microphone is the basis of the Radio Shack 3013 tie-tack microphone. Terrific microphone. We have many of them around the building to record training sessions and I've even used them for distributed sound services in videoconference sessions. When was the last time you changed the ...

Re: Multitrack recording devices?
Qualified yes. Audacity can record up to 16 tracks from any one sound device. The problem with most multi-track machines is they group every two tracks into one Stereo Device. Audacity will only recognize one of those at a time. That and Audacity will not work with the popular ASIO software drivers....

Re: Bug when importing audi from a video file
Audacity doesn't know how to deal with a video file. Separate the sound portions into their own file and then open that.

Re: Problem in recording
No, you sorta do. When you start plugging and unplugging USB services -- especially involving audio (or video) -- the computer can get confused which service is current, especially if there are conflicts. When you restart, the Mac has to go around one at a time and register all its services and devi...

Re: Horrible Noise while recording....
<<<I am using tape out on the mixer to mic/line-in >>> Probably not. Most Windows Laptops have a delicate, sensitive Microphone-In, expecting a really tiny, weak signal from a mono microphone. Your mixer is producing a massive, powerful, stereo line signal which is destroying your computer. Many Win...

Re: connecting files
You don't just connect them because they go Left-Right Left-Right and in some versions of Audacity, they're not numbered sequentially.

Re: Can't record really SHORT track!
While we figure out the file length problem, you can patch your drum hit with the "Silence" tool. Select the area after the hit that you don't want and Control-L. That will reduce the selected sound to dead silence. Tune as needed. It's Command-L on a Mac, so I think Control-L is correct o...

<<<Make or adapt a splitter cable so that all three pins are connected on one of the mini-jack plugs>>> Which puts you right back into Radio Shack Soldering and palm trees growing out of your head. About this "I can't use two microphones" thing. Why not? You put on the regular headset and ...
