List went way up since the last time Iooked. This happen around 1.3.10? I know I can't do most of that in 1.3.7.

Re: Recording via SKYPE
<<<I am use the freebie Pam recorder, or may buy the full version if i need it more than 15 min (the limit on the freebie). >>> It's worse than that. Not only does the freebie give out after fifteen minutes, but only the top two paid Pamela packages give you the two directions on their own track. Yo...

Re: Tape2USB gaget
Most devices like this depend on the USB cable to transfer the sound. You should need no other cables except to plug the tape player into the wall. From there, we need to wait for one of the Windows Elves to help. I know Windows has to recognize the tape player first before Audacity will even dream ...

Re: Chain - amplify without clipping?
Chains is in preliminary baby steps and the effects available have been hand-created to work. If your effect isn't in that list, it may have to wait for more development. At current, there's no way to create your own chain -- that I know of. Audacity will not script. There's no shortage of people wa...

Re: Any way to organize my effects list?
That is a sore point. One of the early versions of Audacity had menus and sub-menus and sub-sub-menus. Because of the way Audacity applies effects, you have to apply the same one multiple, sometimes hundreds of times. With the effects in one long row, this process is one or two keyclicks. After abou...

Re: Which version for OS X 10.3.9
In that case, there is another level of this. Leopard/Intel and Snow Leopard/Intel do not support Audacity 1.2. Intel/Tiger takes Audacity 1.2.5, not 1.2.6. We tell people they can't move Audacity Projects because most of them can't. Audacity keeps track of hundreds of different files and folders fo...

Re: Which version for OS X 10.3.9
You can safely have both 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2. My upgrade to 1.3 the first time was to get the Noise Reduction tools. Noise reduction is an actual, working product in 1.3. It was an awkward experiment in 1.2. Th...

Re: Help!! Microphone Volume????
All that and almost all USB microphones do this -- some more than others. They don't have convenient volume controls like on a sound mixer, so they have to be very careful not to overload. Too loud performances create crackling, crunchy sound that is permanently damaged. Low volume can usually be ea...
