Re: Synchronize projects between 2 computers: file structure
<<<How does Audacity manage its files, and what would be good rules to follow in the synchronization process?>>> I Export each live capture as a perfect quality WAV sound file and send it to wherever it needs to go. I don't use Projects for live capture work. Linda_Voice_20100128.wav John_Voice_2010...

Re: Amplify multiple files to same volume
Audacity is doing what MP3Gain claims to avoid. It does peak normalization. MP3Gain does not just do peak normalization, as many normalizers do. Instead, it does some statistical analysis to determine how loud the file actually sounds to the human ear. So we can't do what you want. We do have a plug...

Can you post a couple of the sentences of the calibration process? "For Audacity to manage Freebus sound files, it must be calibrated by adjusting settings in the Preference File Allocation ......etc." I've never heard of that, either, but we have heard of people who aren't running Audacit...

Re: Windows XP Movie Maker sound question
Since you're in Windows, Super or Switch download should do all the sound conversions for you. There are other ways. Free Itunes can be set so the import system will produce a WAV file instead of one of the compressed formats like MP3 or Apple AAC. Audcity isn't a very good converter, but if the son...

Re: Problem, unwanted short noise/scramble when i play a sou
Are you trying to edit with sound files that Audacity may not recognize? If you try to play an mp4 or AAC sound file, Audacity may play it like a quick, high-pitched screech rather than music. (Audacity doesn't recognize the compression, so if it's a 10 to 1 compressed file, Audacity will play it te...

Re: Mixing Tracks Question
And another note. Isn't this the magic place where the signals start clipping because all mix does is add everything up? If they come out to over 100%, you lose on Sports Call®.

Re: How do I Record Records using Audacity, But Faster?
And then about the twentieth record, you discover that you didn't really need all those old albums after all. this process only works really well when you can't buy the album any other way. My sister and I have albums that are years out of print. Those work.

<<<jsut a gut feel that it can be done.>>> Lots of people have the same gut, but this process has eluded some very talented people. You capture the performance -- both sides -- in Pamela Professional or Pamela Business. Open up the capture files in in post production Audacity and edit them for a ple...

Re: Only see MIC as recording source
Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound and select the appropriate input and output devices. My USB microphone shows up as a weird part number instead of "Labtec", but it does work. Then reset Audacity Preferences for 44100, 16-bit, Mono and restart Audacity.

Re: Making a live acoustic sound professional
By the time the performance makes YouTube, it's been through at least two different file compression systems each one taking a bite out of the quality of the work. That and in spite of it being a musical performance, YouTube compression tends to favor pictures over sound. If you had access to the or...
