Re: Windows 7 - Big Drop in Sound Quality

You can get metallic-sounding voices two ways. Export the work in an MP3 format with not high enough bit rate, or record the work with two different sound pathways in Windows or a damaged pathway. Windows Vista made recording Mix-Out very difficult and we assume by the time Win7 rolled around, it wo...

Re: Audacity is looking for NetShell Hardware????

<<<Do you have Netshell hardware?>>>

The blank look question at the top suggests the poster has no idea what any of this is, but you're right. Nobody actually said that in English words.

Re: Noise with USB turntable

Is the old computer a large deskside and the new one a laptop?

Re: Audacity is looking for NetShell Hardware????

You might try to trash the Audacity Preferences file and make it build it again. Go > Home > Library > Application Support Drag the whole Audacity folder to the trash (Don't empty it yet). Restart Audacity. Is it still asking for phantom hardware when it starts? If it's still bad, trash the new fold...

Re: Audacity is looking for NetShell Hardware????

I got nothing. Somehow your computer is convinced that you installed this device, or you installed software associated with the device. If you dig down through Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input and Output, do you see this device listed there? From the desktop, search the machine ...

Re: Synchronize projects between 2 computers: file structure

This is a similar problem as two artists separated by multiple time zones who want to work on the same song. While that's not impossible, it's a lot harder than you think. I think we told them to leave their projects alone and push individual sound files back and forth. This is me singing third harm...

Re: Wave form

There is a history of MP3 files being unreadable by some software because they were produced from a 32-floating master. So yes, you can do that.

Re: Making a live acoustic sound professional

There is one thing you can do that's relatively independent of the compression. If you have a capture of the work, apply Chris's Compressor. Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/ That will even out the extreme volume variations. That's it. Everything else is more or less...

Re: Making a live acoustic sound professional

Excellent. I'm going back to listen to the whole thing again from the beginning. Their capture problem is uncorrectable. They're recording in a bathroom. I know it's their living room or maybe the dining room, but it has terrific room echoes and that's killing the quality of the work. It's fatal. Yo...

Re: Old CD Player Won't Play Burned Cd's From Audacity Proje

You need to be clear that you are burning Music CDs and not Data CDs. Most CD authoring programs will do both and only the Music CD will play anywhere. If you start having player machine problems, slow down or change the burn speed (see Bill) and buy a short stack of top quality CD blanks. Sony CD-R...
