Re: mp3 files become much larger after changes

Audacity does not edit MP3 files. It converts them to its own very high quality internal format and does the production there. Then it re-exports the show to a brand new MP3. That new export is almost certainly at a different quality setting than your original. You set the MP3 export quality setting...

Re: Equalizer curve advice

<<<if Audacity developers could add pair of predefined EQ curves designed specifically for mobile phone ringtones.>>> It would be good, but that kind of thing is usually contributed by outside users since it's simple and it doesn't affect the core programming. The trick is to get the first one. Writ...

Re: Source Connect

OIC. It's a ProTools plugin. Someone will correct me, but no, I don't think so. I wonder how much of this you could do with Mirial software. Mirial is an h.323 videoconferencing solution that runs on both Macs and PCs. It's natively bidirectional and you can tune it so the audio takes priority over ...

Re: Source Connect

I can't find that. Do you have a link?

Remember Audacity will run on all three computer platforms, so whatever they program has to be available on all three. Is that available on Linux?

Re: What is the maximum track length I can record?

Qualified yes. People have done that, but the requirements for the computer go way up as the number of hours goes up. You're in Surveillance System land with that many hours. Those machines make special provision for long recordings and arrange the operating system accordingly. If you're on an under...

Re: Recording Mixes/Streaming Live from turntables

I infer they want to podcast live and record it in Audacity. Maybe not.

A lot of people produce the show and record it in Audacity, edit it if needed, and then podcast the exported WAV file hours later. They never have both services running at the same time.

Re: Can you help me amplify a very faint voice?

If the noise is people talking next door or traffic noise outside the window, then there may be no show. Noise Removal only works with constant noises like air conditioning rumble or bad microphone hum or buzz. Sounds that change during the performance are not noise, they're performers. Capturing li...

<<<You might create some interesting problems if you try to use Audacity and LiveStream at the same time. >>>

I bet you get one to work, not both.

See original question...

<<<I'm trying to figure out how to automate something I will do a lot.>>>

Can we assume turn Audacity loose and go for coffee?
