Re: Audacity not detecting device (using USB MIDI cable)
Unless somebody corrects me, I think you're missing a cable. The USB service does not carry audio in this case. MIDI is instructions on how to press a piano key, it's not the sound that the key makes. If I had to guess at it, I would say the music the computer was making was as a result of the Mac M...

Re: Distortion when recording from Stereo Mix
Stereo Mix is a little magic. The music goes almost all the way through the playback pathway to your speakers and the computer turns it around and runs it back through the recording pathway. Both sets of volume controls work. If you get Stereo Mix to work right, please keep track how you did it, bec...

Re: Recording on singstar?
Many USB microphones need special settings.
Edit > Preferences > Quality > 44100, 16-bit, Mono. Those setting locations change a bit with the Audacity version. Restart Audacity and that message should go away -- if that's what the problem is.

Re: Audacity stops recording after 26 mins
Screen Savers and Power Savers can be different and are settable in different parts of the control panel. Audacity does its management based on a drive location posted in Preferences > Location (or Drives or Directories). Where do yours point? There is also a setting in that panel to force Audacity ...

Re: Help with getting rid of white noise?
White noise is rough even with the best of tools. White noise is all sounds at once. So you're telling the software "remove all the sounds in this performance." Even if you play your cards right in the latest Audacity 1.3, you may still end up with a slightly gargly performance. It is requ...

Re: USB/Firewire Mics?
Do you need the FireWire interface?" This mixer will plug right into the Line-In of your MacBook Pro. You can listen to the performance (late) by jacking into the Mac Headphone socket and select Software Playthrough in Audacity Preferences. You can't perform like that, but monitoring is OK. If ...
