The lame software will not manage Windows Media. Did you download and install FFMpeg?
I thought one of the latest versions of Audacity knew how to speak Windows Media. What version do you have?

<<<I tried to convert about 7 files like this >>>
Did they convert and do they open up in Audacity now?
Is that Japanese?

Re: Can't Open File (problem renaming files?)
That's an Audacity Project. The file and folder names are burned inside the files. You can't change them. You need to put everything back exactly the way it was, open the show, and Export As WAV to get a sound file. You can copy the sound file, rename it, or do whatever you want with that. You can m...

Re: importers can't understand this format
One last possibility. You can make Microsoft WAV files many different ways. I think there's even a way to make them contain more than two sound channels, but that's not "normal" and not everybody will be able to read them. There is also a WAV file version that the broadcast people use. Aud...

Re: importers can't understand this format
That's the generic file attributes. There should be another information panel under Advanced or Extra where it tells you sample rate, bit depth, etc. -- if it really is a WAV file. You didn't respond about changing Windows to see file extensions. Can we assume you didn't do that? You can fake out pe...

Also, from that example, the top half of the code is for Stereo Left and the bottom half is for Stereo Right. Any changes you make to one have to be made to the other. Obviously, you weren't intended to manage and edit this file, although you can. Tags are start and stop labels like this: <name> Koz...

Re: Error Opening Project...
I'm pretty sure I know the character of the error. You know the AUP file is computer programming, right? It's not a sound file. You can open it up in NotePad (or WordPad) and read it. Here's a simple one as a picture. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg That's XML programming language and it has...

Re: importers can't understand this format
<<<They are wav files>>> I'll put serious money that they're not. Did you set Windows to show you file extensions? Do you remember how you did it? Chances are if you paid for them or have a license, they could be in WAV format. If they were free, they will almost certainly be in one of the compresse...
