Re: Batch Process - "Chains" with AU (Audio Units)
You're not supposed to even know about the AU files. They are the Audacity internal way of keeping track of sound segments and they're not in the order you think they are. You can get into serious trouble by managing them outside of the program. Chains gets more and more talented as the version numb...

Re: Burning AIFF to Audio CD - Help!
Control-Click your sound file and Open With > iTunes. When the song arrives in iTunes, create a playlist and drag the music over to the playlist. While the playlist is displayed, click Burn Disk from the lower right click panel. OK the burn dialog and put a blank CD-R in when the machine says so in ...

Re: splicing 2 wav files
Let's assume end to end, although you didn't say so. If the two files are the same technical specification, Control-click on each one and Open With > Audacity. Bring the second one forward, Edit > Select > All, copy and paste to the end of the first one in the other Audacity window. You can't separa...
Re: No sound
It's not Audacity Preferences. Chances are really good that your Windows Control Panel is set wrong. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel Audacity always gets blamed for this, but other things are much more likely to mess thi...

Re: Playback not working
Sudden Computer Insanity can be caused by your hard drive filling up. Is it? Audacity will not work into a badly fragmented hard drive. Defrag -- Right Click Start > Explore > Right Click Local Drive C: > Properties (Used, Remaining) > Tools > Error Checking & Defragmentation The hard drive shou...

Re: Issues Recording Mic via Pre-Amp
<<<connected to the Mic/Line-In jack on my PC.>>> Promise you'll stop using that phrase. You can have a Mic-In or a Line-In, rarely both in the same connector (although that has happened). They're very different. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html The top connector is exp...

Maybe nothing. Control-Click on one of the files > Open With > QuickTime Player.
Does it play there? Command-I for INFO panel. What kind of file does the INFO panel say it is?

Re: Printable Audacity Manual
<<<Please forget pdf!!!>>> Because.....? <<<Make it a txt or doc file without all the html stuff.>>> Text files tend to lose formatting and graphics. Not everybody has Microsoft Office and the Linux people are forced to install OpenOffice to view and manage docs. Everybody can view, search, and prin...

Re: importers can't understand this format
<<<imported them into audacity as raw data and one played perfectly.>>> More red flags. If you have plain, normal, unexciting WAV files, you shouldn't need to Import them to Audacity. Importing is when you know you have file damage or files misformed and you hope to goodness Audacity will play them ...

Re: Snoball USB microphone, cant record in stereo
Snowball. Terrific microphone. We have two. It's mono and takes 44100, 16-bit, Mono for a setup. Especially in Audacity 1.3, it's easy to make stereo. As pointed out, the result is really two-track mono, but it will integrate into a stereo show just fine after you convert. What it will not do is pro...
