Re: Sound Engineering Help

<<<pitch shift if you must should not be a problem>>> Have you ever tried that? Some of the early "Change" tools (Change Pitch, Change Speed...) had the unfortunate affect of changing the length of the segment slightly so it didn't fit any more and further, sound funny if you switch in and...

Re: Why plug ins wont paste in the plug in folder?

You're pasting them into the right folder, not dragging them in?

Re: NEW TO THIS ALL!

Computers normally split the sound services into Recording and PlayBack. Audacity connects to the recording service (built-in microphone) and CDs, DVDs, YouTube, etc. use the playback side. They don't normally cross. You can force them to cross so you can record any music on your machine, but it tak...

Re: bug or design flaw or stupid user ?

It's possible this is a problem with 1.3.9, but we can see. When I load a stereo track into Audacity 1.3, the panel on the left says: Piano2, Stereo, 48000Hz, 16-bit PCM and there are two blue waves on the screen. It's a television track at 48000. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jp...

Re: Most stable version of 1.3 on Snow Leopard?

<<<Audacity keeps quitting on me after I get maybe 5-10 minutes of recording done.>>>

Any error messages, or it just vanishes?

Re: Most stable version of 1.3 on Snow Leopard?

Audacity 1.3.11 is the current champ. I'm using 1.3.7 and I got myself into some menu layer difficulties last night that I'm sure were resolved in later versions. 1.3.10 had known problems and prompted an acceleration of the 1.3.11 release.

Re: Where can I find Invert in Effect-menu?

Audacity 1.3 has a packaged Vocal Removal Tool in the Effects menu. It does all splitting and flipping for you. You can install both Audacity 1.2 and 1.3 safely, you just can't use both at once. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open up in 1.2. Don't be too crushed if it doesn't work. Most of the time ...

Re: Keyboard shortcut interference

<<<The download page recommends it as THE stable version.>>

There is a vigorous developer debate about that. Mostly non-Mac users. Audacity 1.2.5 will not run on my test system.

Re: WMA to MP3

We use Flip4Mac to manage Windows Media files inside our Macs. I think the free version allows you to play but not record Windows Media Files. We have the paid version that allows both. Flip4Mac loads extra drivers into your machine that "know" what Windows Media is. All your Mac applicati...

Re: Advice needed re. peaking levels

In your bottom illustration, you posted the Mac Hardware > Input panel with the volume control all the way down. Those blue dots under the panel are a wide-range volume meter. Where do the dots bounce when you play the music (the last one to the right is overload) and can you make it worse with the ...
