Re: Help Me With My Thesis Project Please!
We usually groan when the question uses words like: "How can I automatically..." Audacity isn't big on automation, scripting, or batch processes, although it's getting better. If you have the stimulating sound and the response on the same timeline, it's certainly possible to manually deriv...

<<<(Thanks to Koz for the original sound sample)>>> You're looking at my entire musical career there. Enjoy it. I can't wait for the rest of my 14:54 of fame. Windows is really bad about file identities. First they hide the file extensions from you based on "Don't worry your pretty little head ...

Re: Suggestions needed for how to Email MP3
Once you convert to Audacity 1.3, you can install the FFMpeg plugin and use the more modern formats. MP3 is well over 20 years old (1988). AAC can give you similar quality at nearly half the bitrates that MP3 can. That may put you well under the filesize that you can email, but they have to be able ...

Re: Suggestions needed for how to Email MP3
Yes, that's not obvious. You need to change the MP3 encoding bitrates in Audacity Preferences before you export a show. Restart Audacity after you change it. If we haven't urged you to push over to Audacity 1.3.11 yet, consider this the push. This process is easier in 1.3.11. You can safely install ...

Re: No lever with Mic input
USB microphones can have their own software package to control them. The normal Windows control panels don't work because sound gets converted to digital inside the microphone instead of the computer's sound card. Does the microphone have its own service or icon in the control panels?

Re: Can't export...
The blue waves are created by their own files or display system. It's fast and efficient that way, but the blue waves can get out of step with the show if something nasty happens.

Re: Can't export...
Unless somebody corrects me, that's the end of the show. Audacity 1.2 doesn't get along very well with modern Macs, and I don't think any version stays alive on a sleeping machine.
Sorry.

Re: Audacity importing only 2.5 hours of a 4hour long MP3 fi
Shows in their compressed, tiny MP3 form really are small. Players decompress them on the fly for the presentation. It's when you decompress them inside Audacity (or any other program) that they revert to their original monstrous uncompressed size. Most compressors are Front Loaded. You go through a...

Re: Noise gate effect problem
You have the symptoms of a sound system trying to manage a Skype phone call or communication session instead of a theatrical musical performance. The settings for those services are all different but they typically appear in the Windows Control Panel or the control panel for your sound card. Look fo...

If you can see the blue waves and music comes out when you press the spacebar or press Play, then File > Save Project As... immediately. Call it testsound. Just straight lower case characters until we straighten this out. Don't get fancy with numbers and upper case letters and all. Save it to the de...
