Re: Still dont get mic set up...
The problem isn't that you can't get away with this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/UnbalBalAdapter.jpg ...it's that I had to make that one at home. I don't think anybody makes it as a commercial product. The wiring formula is in the illustration. Your sound card needs to have the "+20dB"...

Re: Spectrum Analysis of Musical Notes
Yes, but not that bad. It's possible to have a sound card with a damaged digitizer or time base managers and produce some really odd results. Damage here sometimes results in not being to perform to yourself by overdubbing or to a standard click or rhythm track. If you record a note or two, export a...

Re: Newbie wants a nice reverb
GVerb and FreeVerb are two that come to mind. GVerb is free with Audacity 1.3. Most of the time you need to change the default settings a great deal to get an effect that's not too crazy and overwhelming. Room echo is very hard to do because you can't really do it. You can only approximate the large...

Re: Spectrum Analysis of Musical Notes
Like this one... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/piano_G1.jpg You'll need to change some of the settings on the spectrum tool like the ones on the bottom of that illustration. Also, you need to know that the amount of information goes way up as you grab and stretch the spectrum window larger and larg...

<<<okay I'm sorry but I cant figure out how to make my own post and I'm going to kill myself so I have to do this.>>> Don't do that. The paperwork is just amazing if you do. As you click into a forum like Audacity 1.3 - Windows, there should be a big red [NEW TOPIC] on the left of the picture. Past ...

<<<I just need to trim mp3>>>
Yes. You're the poster child for one of the other simpler editors. You get forced into Audacity if you need effects or left-right task management and tools like that.

Re: Left speaker not working
<<<I get stereo left and right out of the headphone jack in the front of the tower.>>> Typically, the front connection comes from gold pins on the sound card separate from the Headphone-Out of the card. It's certainly possible to get one without the other. http://www.kozco.com/tech/LRMonoPhaset4.wav...

Re: bad quality when recording
Live recording is messy and it's easy to create damage by accident. People are used to the highly processed sound available on professionally mixed songs and it's a nasty shock the first time they try to record their own music. Recording at a low level is a really good idea because performance peaks...

I did that. I failed to home the cursor before I pasted the track.
Freaky.

Re: Can't hear tracks
You should start using 1.3.11. Audacity 1.2 can have some serious problems with larger shows on newer machines. Audacity 1.3.11 should open up your 1.2 show. It doesn't work the other way. A multi-track Audacity Project, unless you changed it, is referencing potentially hundreds of different files a...
