Re: Noise-destroying tech put to the test
I can see two curves crossing. Automatic Noise Reduction getting better and better at the exact time that Computer Voice starts being used for books. I note one test he didn't do. Right at the end he said this was useful if your flatmate wouldn't stop making noise. I bet the software would have a lo...

Re: ACX plug in for Audacity
No short performance test description in the notes? I know how they used to do it, but I also know they changed it and made it much harder for a casual user to produce. This is their reaction to the sudden workload increase.

Re: ACX plug in for Audacity
Open the whole chapter. Drag-select the first half. Check it. Drag-select the second half and check that. You should have finished making your new Room Tones that ACX Check will have enough silence to work with. If you used the Audacity Audiobook Mastering tools, I expect everything to pass, But you...

Re: Effect tracking in each track, with undo per track
That makes me crazy, too. But. The way Audacity creates UNDO is, in many cases, to save a copy of the whole show. The frozen moment in time. You can't arbitrarily go back to a single change made ten minutes ago amid a blizzard of other changes, because there is no whole show to go back to. I underst...

Re: Latency problems
For overdubbing to work right, your computer has to be able to play the backing track absolutely perfectly and record a new sound track absolutely perfectly and both at the exact same time. If your computer isn't up to that for whatever reason, then automatic overdubbing is not going to work. Do the...

Re: Possible bug in exporting files?
Did you turn dithering off? The dithering signal is customized random noise added to the export. It's always going to be different each export. Working in 32-bit just eliminates the need for dither.Same file exported via each method produce different checksums.

Re: Distortion when recording
When you're overdubbing, you should be recording from a real hardware device, not a software process. People who have problems with volume overload during overdubbing are recording their backing track in addition to whatever the performance is. That doubles the volume of the backing track and create...

Is Amazon Cloud Drive active right now? Do you use it for any Audacity jobs? How does that service appear to you?
