Re: Managing excess volume without buzz
<<<most churches use a mixing board so they can balance the various sources and send the balanced mix to the recorder in real time>>> Or produce a mix for the congregation. Later, when they add the recorder, he/she takes a tap from the house feed. This is also where you get into trouble with hum and...

Or get the Bishop to reassign that one priest to another parish. "Hello, Bishop? About Father Flannigan..." Did you try the Clip-Fix tools? Not what you thought, is it? Try applying it more than once, and only do it to the portion where he's brimstoning. Otherwise, yes, you are the poster ...

You have a very talented sound card with more ins and outs than are normal. I have an older sound card like that -- it supports full 5.1 analog surround and digital signals in addition to the regular signals and pathways. I have a rainbow of different connectors back there. The down side to these ca...

Re: Notch Filter Preference and Tinnitus
Strictly, that's not a notch filter. That's a band reject filter. Notch filters manage one frequency. You may make good use of the Equalization Effect. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/voiceEq.jpg The blue line is a rubber band and you can push frequencies up and down as you wish. In Audacity 1.3, you...

<<<I'm working on certain projects.>>> Which are? We tend to go with what you tell us whether it's enough or not. This time it may not be enough. What is the project? What kind of sound is it and where did you get it from? Details, details. We got led down the garden path once when a poster was tryi...

Re: Diminished Audio Quality When Exported AND Need for Mono
This one's easy: Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono. <<<when I upload it and listen back over the phone>>> What happens if you Export as WAV, close Audacity, and listen to it in Windows Media Player? What specification are you using in Audacity and what's the desired Export format? Exactly. We live on de...

Re: Still dont get mic set up...
How did you connect the Carven to the laptop? Bells rang there. This is one of the first places people fall down when they try to use an external mixer. You can plug a stand-alone mixer into almost any Mac and most large Deskside PCs, but most Windows laptops are missing the stereo Line-In connectio...

Re: sources for audio related stuff hdw & sw etc
Thanks for the list. It would be much more handy if you posted the people that you actually had personal dealings with like on the Sound Card Reviews posting. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477 The company buys stuff from B&H and that seems to go well. I've bought stuff ...

Re: How can I split a track that has two channels?
Yes, that's how it's done. Either the envelope tool (two white arrows and bent blue line) or select portions and amplify. When you get to the right production mix, you can re-combine to stereo and then mix to mono (in Audacity 1.3) or select and copy/paste into two stereo shows and combine that into...
