Re: help - too many settings on a pc - which ones and where?
<<<braindead imbeciles if their interface seems logical to them>>> I think it's all relative. The current interface seems to be a lot better than the earlier Windows systems. Remember when the recording control panel was hidden behind the playback one and they had duplicate entries? That wasn't hand...

Re: Surround Matrix Encoder - anyone use it?
<<<It would APPEAR to be used to create a 5.1 surround mp3>>> My guess would be a Dolby® *.ac3 file. This is normally licensed software similar to Fraunhofer MP3®. Lame is an open source dodge-ball around the licenses for MP3. I wouldn't be surprised if someone got most of the way through the open s...

Re: WINDOWS VISTA
I don't know if I would "key anything in." Click on Edit, click on Preferences, Click on Directories. It should tell you where it is right now.

Re: WINDOWS VISTA
Audacity is supposed to be cleaning up after itself, but that may be an Audacity 1.2 thing. Edit > Preferences > Directories That's the location where Audacity puts things while it's thinking about them. It's a directory that's intentionally difficult to reach, but that's where some of your drive sp...

Re: Compressing WAV files?
I, too, tried to get an FM radio solution to work in my truck and it was less than successful. I found that if I duct-taped the transmitter a certain way to the passenger seat, it's wasn't all that bad. Keeping in mind that Los Angeles has no "dead" FM channels. You are required to slide b...

Re: "Muffled" Sound?
You can use the Equalizer Effect to accentuate the high sounds... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/voiceEq.jpg ...but the woman has pumping hiss noise behind her and the noise is going to get really loud if you do that. The blue line is a rubber band and you can push it around to get the effect you wa...

Re: "Muffled" Sound?
That's two links. You need to be careful how you post. The voice at the end sounds muffled because I think the original is a highly compressed sound file and somebody expanded it out to a WAV for shipping. Once you compress sound, you get the compressor damage (honky, bubbling, muffled) and it never...

The only other thing I could find was a development page for Labels.
