You don't need to make MP3 music files to make a Music CD. There are much better ways.
What is the make and model of your turntable? Who made it? Ion, Numark?
Which Windows do you have? XP, Vista, Windows 7?

Re: Recording the speaker output stopped being hot enough
Do you use Skype? Skype and other conferencing systems reassign the sound pathways. You may need to put them all back manually -- and again every time you use Skype.

Re: Sound Engineering Help
<<<maybe maybe not>>> Remember we're comparing this to recording in a dining room or bare-walled third bedroom. You can position the mic and place the singers so it's clear they're recording in a large room or theater (which they are) and yet it doesn't take over. It's the hardware version of GVerb,...

Re: Can I record in Vox format?
Audacity always records in high quality "WAV" format higher or lower depending on its settings. After you capture the job, you can export in a number of different sound formats, but I don't think VOX in one of them. It's possible the FFMpeg plugin knows what that is. You can also export a ...

Re: Managing excess volume without buzz
That can put you dangerously close to the noise floor. He also said the chorus wasn't anything to write home about for volume. It's good, but the Marantz isn't a formal studio digitizer. One of the people in the Digital Imaging Resources office has a Marantz. I need to borrow it and see what it can ...

<<<So there's no way to make a general statement like "an MP3 at X kbps will sound identical to a WMA file of Y kbps"? >>> I see where you're going with this. You can't go between two different compression systems. The quality of the work always go down. Compression damage, no matter where...

<<<I just may see if the church will let me record there. Thanks!>>> Excellent. Even the smaller churches can sound very good because they are all, at their base, performance spaces. It's probably the one time when sensing the walls is a good thing. http://www.kozco.com/maui/Maui5.jpg http://www.koz...

Re: Can't re-open edited .aup file.
I've had troubles with Audacity 1.2 opening some shows. Try control-clicking the AUP file and Open-With > Audacity. The other way to do it is launch Audacity ahead of time and File > Open > whatever.aup. I've had it so one way works and the other doesn't. Also: Go > Utilities > Disk Utility > Whatev...

Re: Is there a way
You can install both Audacity 1.2 and 1.3 safely, but you can only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2. We're after the program daddies to change the designation of the two Audacity versions. It's not a question of being "stable" or not. Audacity 1.2 will not run ...

Re: Audacity + Hammerhead
If it's not one of the supported file types, then you don't. Audacity is not a good converter program. Use Super or Switch (download) to convert the work into WAV for Audacity to chew on. If Hammerhead is a MIDI or controller program, then that's a lot more difficult. You have to trap the computer s...
