Re: 1.2 Sound issue
Please don't double post. It takes up servicing time and doesn't get you help any faster. I deleted your other post. <<<*** Also, I just tried playing the song in itunes and recording it to Audacity. Still there is no sound. Thanks for any help!>>> That doesn't work on Macs. <<<The file shows up, an...

Re: Frequency correlation to SPL reading
Note the two "curves" on your instrument, A and C. Hazard laws and your ears work in curve A -- sensitive to some frequencies over others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-weighting "C" is more or less flat. We need to know whether you are dealing with law enforcement or not. Curve...

Re: Is Audacity the best program for my application?
<<<Of course, in order to chop the show up into small fragments you must first have enough space to open and decompress the entire file at once, correct?>>> No, that's a little more Audacity Magic. Unless you changed it in Preferences, Audacity does not pull sound inside itself for editing. It point...

The sound clip is "File Not Found." <<<Hi, I was recording myself on harmonica,>>> How? Describe the microphone connection and placement. <<<I know bigger waves mean bigger sound, and square looking waves sound more electronic. >>> And, important for your particular wave, it's a combinatio...

Re: guitar tracks are faster than i play them
<<<i'm on 1.3.11>>> You posted in the Audacity 1.2 forum. <<<any idea as to why this is goin on?>>> I got a couple. Are you using 24-bit sound by any chance? Your audio equipment supports all sorts of exotic and super quality formats. Which ones did you settle on, and are Audacity preferences set fo...

Re: any ideas please? unmixing a track...
It's not "push this button and everything is fine." There will be one and only one critical volume of track one dialog which will cancel the dialog leakage from track two. If somebody forced me to do this, I would probably split the tracks and use the envelope tool (two white arrows and be...

Now you're getting seriously into the intenral settings of Windows. We'll need to wait for the Windows elves to show up. There's a write-up on how to do what you want. See if there's anything in there that's helpful. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer Mix-Out i...

Re: Is Audacity the best program for my application?
<<<So basically my best bet is to import the WMA file, make my changes, and then export it as a WAV file? This will result in only minor errors due to the way Audacity handles files?>>> Yes. We're forced to say that because Audacity converts its jobs to 32-bit floating for internal use. That's super...

Are you on an Intel Mac with Leopard or Snow Leopard (10.5 or 10.6)?
Apple > About This Mac
Audacity 1.2 doesn't work so well for us. Download and install Audacity 1.3.11 and use that. You don't have to remove Audacity 1.2.

Re: Can't record sound in Windows 7 (and Vista too on laptop
<<<but it's feeble.>>> Feeble we can fix easily. Control-F (full show) Edit > Select > All. Effects > Amplify > OK. If you use Audacity 1.3.11 like we would like you to, then you don't need the Edit > Select > All step. It's automatic. It's good to know that Mix-Out sends sound through both the Play...
