I think you can find it in Terminal, but do you have a good idea where it is? Like Desktop or Documents? If you export something correctly right now and don't change anything, where does it go?

"Dot" files are seen as System files and yes, those vanish.

Just when you're feeling fuzzy-warm about all this. What are you using for a microphone? They all have frequency lumps and bumps, too. Your Radio Shack meter should have an audio output on the side.
