Re: Weird Wave form question
<<<I think it was caused by opening up my mouth without breaking the seal>>> You didn't post enough of the bottom line underneath the blue waves for me to get numbers, but I bet this is a sound like hitting a piece of wood underneath three quits, or anything low and rumbly like that. Are you using Audacity 1.2.5 on an Intel Mac with Leopard OS-X 10.5 (Apple > About This Mac -- Read Processor and Version).

Re: So i accidentally exported an mp3 just called .mp3
I think you can find it in Terminal, but do you have a good idea where it is? Like Desktop or Documents? If you export something correctly right now and don't change anything, where does it go?

Re: Still dont get mic set up...
OK, so this microphone works, but it's a little quiet? If you had a mis-wired adapter, you would either have great distortion, or no sound at all, so that part is probably OK. This type of microphone demands the +20dB gain booster tool. Did you find that tool somewhere in the sound setup panels or W...

Re: Frequency correlation to SPL reading
Just when you're feeling fuzzy-warm about all this. What are you using for a microphone? They all have frequency lumps and bumps, too. Your Radio Shack meter should have an audio output on the side.

Re: Frequency correlation to SPL reading
<<<db will be negative!>>> He's right. Digital Audio is measured from maximum possible and always goes down. Maximum possible is 0dBFS -- zero dB Full Scale. Standard reference broadcast tone in the US is -20. In the UK, it's -18. the numbers always go down. Higher than 0 is where your computer expl...

Re: Will this setup be okay & do i need to buy a soundcard?
The good turntable and DJ mixer is fine. You're already head and shoulders beyond most people trying to do this. If you have a "real" sound card with all three (or more) connections (pink, blue, and green) then you can get the appropriate sound adapter... http://www.radioshack.com/product/...
