Re: High Pitch Tones issue

What a terrific cut. I love the film effect over the faded rose. Excellent. On a weapon's grade sound system, the high notes are waaaaay to crisp and they are distorting the compression systems. On a couple of notes, my wine glass started to vibrate and sing. What happens if you send the video with ...

Re: Frequency correlation to SPL reading

Different tasks demand a different "size" number. If all you're interested in is overall general groups of sounds, the large surgical 8192 or higher number is a waste of time. If you're looking for that one pitch tone in a forest of other tones, then a higher number is for you. And just be...

<<<Oh, and I also changed the window from rectangular to Hanning since I saw that in your spectrum Koz. Is that the generally accepted window to use in the industry?>>> I use the default. I don't think the default is rectangular. I do the newspaper test on my feather duvet over the bed in my heavily...

Re: Frequency correlation to SPL reading

The crinkling newspaper is a handy test to make sure there are no odd problems in the system. This is the spectrum of a Blue Snowball USB microphone during the newspaper test. Newspaper1.jpg Note it has significant energy beyond audibility both directions. 20 Hz to 20000 Hz. I wondered for a long ti...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity

You can also download the free QuickTime for Windows and use that as a media inspector instead of WMP. Control-I... Picture 1.png That's my "famous" piano solo. Six seconds and then I had to go lie down for a while. Oh, and iTunes for Windows -- also free -- will be happy to manage and bur...

Re: 4 Channel Analog Tape into Audacity

I couldn't help noticing that Windows Media Player is playing a significant role in all this. You don't have to use WMP to author and burn your Music CDs. It's only in the last couple of versions that Windows Media even admitted that a CD burn was possible at all. Before that we made very good use o...

Re: display bugs?

OK. I've been struggling with Paint for way too long. Windows people without Photoshop or Corel Paint may not be able to post cropped screen grabs.

If you look up Paint Help, Cropping is listed and then they give you clear instructions for Resize. Cropping and Resizing are different.

Re: display bugs?

<<<To include a picture in your post, the picture should be in .PNG or .JPG format >>> Make sure the picture you want is displayed on your screen. Press Print Screen (PrtScrn). Open the Windows Paint program. I think it's actually called "Windows Paint or Microsoft Paint." Edit > Paste. Cu...

Re: display bugs?

I know what the other elves are going to say. Push up to Audacity 1.3.11.

Audacity 1.3.8, 1.3.9, and 1.3.10 all had known, serious problems. I still use 1.3.7 for some work because I know what the errors are and none of them affect the jobs.
