Re: Hum & Noise When Recording From Microphone in Windows 10
Did you try a clean Windows start? Shift+Shutdown > Wait > Start and make sure nothing else starts. Maybe you're trying to simplify a problem that isn't simple. Do you use Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts or any of the other chat or conferencing apps? They all try to use your microphone and can change t...

Re: Recording levels jumping (especially on my end of phone recording)
I primarily do phone recordings using Google Voice (aka Chat) as the connection, and the call routes through my Mackie USB mixer (profx8)... Can you describe that a bit more? Recording the chat apps is really difficult without a lot more hardware than most people have or are willing to buy. Where i...

Re: Reducing the Size of Temporary Project Files
Is there a plugin for Audacity which makes this type of editing possible? You want a plugin that changes the basic way that Audacity works. Not that I know of. This posting is ringing alarm bells. Trying to edit on an underpowered machine with scarce resources and running out of drive space is aski...

Re: _data folders
One other common error. Look for the AUP file inside the _DATA folder. Some performers naturally assume it's supposed to be there and slide it over. It's not and the show won't open up that way. They have to be side by side as in the above illustration.

Re: Church music director seeking help for COVID era choir
This is too good. The first part is the finished song. The second part is the outtakes.

When you do get it to work, we will, of course, need the address where to listen to it.

Re: Church music director seeking help for COVID era choir
There is one more odd reason for music to fail. If you have chat, conference, or group voice services on your machine, it may not pass music. Echo cancellation and auto noise reduction hates music. Make sure all those corrections are turned off before you try to record music. That goes for everybody...

Re: Church music director seeking help for COVID era choir
Nobody has to use Overdubbing. You send out the reference or backing track and everybody plays it on their smartphone into headphones and then just performs into a fresh recording in Audacity or any other recorder. That's what this woman is doing. OneMuff.png The giveaway is she's only wearing one m...

Re: _data folders
Use the name of the song or music and search your machine for the accompanying AUP file. This is a complete Audacity Project. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg The AUP is the instructions for Audacity to put your show together from all that stuff in the _DATA folder...
