Re: Question about Recording/Editing!!
This is where we stop what we're doing and get you to tell us all about your computer, connections, and Audacity versions. You are in a portion of the system that changes wildly depending on that information. For example;... Snow Leopard OS-X 10.6.2 Intel 1.83 GHz Core Duo Mac Mini 2GB RAM 8.5 GB fr...

Re: multiple export
I know this sounds like a generic Get Out Of Jail card, but you should try Audacity 1.3.11 or 1.3.12 if it's out. The updates corrected hundreds of export and file management problems. The "Stable" and "Unstable" business is wildly inaccurate now. There are modern computers you c...

Re: Error - wont record
<<<I must have tried everything now,>>> Maybe not. Removing Audacity from your machine may not remove all of it. Traditionally, you start Audacity over from the beginning just by trashing the configuration file. That one can easily get damaged -- and stuck -- and cause Audacity to do crazy things. T...

Re: File rename command in a chain.
Chain components are programmed one at a time. If you can't find a command, then it hasn't been written yet. You used to be able to do something like that in Windows Command Line. Consult your Windows manual.

Re: Jitter and Lag Problem
Isn't there an error check along with the defrag? If this happens again, you may just need to trash the Audacity configuration file and not the whole program. That file can get corrupted and tell Audacity to do crazy things but the actual program files are OK. I don't know where it is on Windows. Th...

<<<On my new PC however, with Audacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode), the quality of recorded vocals is really terrible by comparison (basically unusable).>>> Lots of holes there. What kind of microphone? How is it connected? Small mixer or not? What kind of computer and by who? Model numbers, specifics. You c...

The spacebar will play a selection, too. Does that work?
Here's a six second sound clip of mine. Does that work in a fresh Audacity?

<<<Sounds to me like a variable rate stroboscope might do the trick, as long as there is some way to make the oscillations visible.>>> Talk about that. Shine a strobe light on the liquid? I think it's valuable to solve the DC "unmoving" problem first since that's the hard one. So there are...
