Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
<<<I'll try later to record some more samples with the mic closer to the hole.>>> I don't know if I can stand this close brush with double entendre. I once tried to find a fastener in my supervisor's desk. I announced to the whole office that I was rooting around in David's drawers looking for a goo...

Re: how to make it sound like a telephone call?
<<<first band limit the audio to 300-4000cps
start rolling off the bass at 300
roll off the high end from 3000 up>>>
I'm betting the poster is looking for step-by-step instructions how to use the filters to do that. The theory of operation is pretty clear.

Re: Audacity 1.3.11-beta + importing FFmpeg and MP3 Lib
You said the wrong words there. You should have said, "I downloaded the MP3 installer and ran it. It put the software where it was supposed to be and it works fine. That's what happened to me. I didn't wrangle "Libraries." It's not unusual for Audacity to need special packages to work...

Re: how to make it sound like a telephone call?
Land-line telephones have a pinched quality because they're not high-fidelity services. It's just enough quality to get the voice to go through. Cellphones on the other hand have compression damage, packet loss, and fades. You get to do both, you lucky dog. This is a sample of high MP3 compression. ...

Re: Audacity Output Level
If your goal is to produce a sound file, then there is no "output level." The volume is controlled by whoever plays the file. While you're producing the show, the output level is set by your headphone volume control. Human voices are unstable while they're performing, so you have to leave ...

This may be a job for the Kepex Simulacrum that Steve wrote a while ago. I gotta dig that out.

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
I see I'm joining the movie late. You're already posting to a separate server. I hear the hiss problem, too. I like the tone of the third one back from the last one posted...if that makes any sense. Did anybody ask you if you were in Audacity 1.2? Noise Reduction in 1.2 wasn't a finished product, an...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
Forget the low-cut switch. It's turning the show into a ukuklele. Even the flat one is a little gutless even though the fret work comes through loud and clear. Can you get a little closer to the tone hole? Don't go crazy. We don't want it to start getting boomy. You can post as many musical notes as...

OK, but we won't be installing very many G-Snaps on a Mac, right?
