Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
Well. I'm exhausted. I could not find any setting of Noise Reduction that didn't remove that crisp, wispy delicacy of the fretwork, so I threw in the towel and installed Noise Gate®. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/21-cardi-front-linux-flat.wav (before) http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/cl...

Re: Just got Audacity 1.2.3 and UCA202...trouble
Try resetting Audacity preferences to 44100, 16-bit, (not 32) Stereo (not mono). Restart Audacity. If that fails, try 48000, 16-bit, Stereo.
Restart.

Re: getting frustrated
Audacity will not "save" a sound file. It only saves its own internal Projects which nobody else can open. To get a postable sound file you have to use File > Export. Most sound postings on the internet have to be compressed and that usually means MP3. Did you install the "lame" ...

Re: Delete part of a recording
When you stop recording. Control-F to put the whole show on your timeline. Click at the two-hour mark or wherever and SpaceBar play to find the beginning of the show. Click-Drag to the left and press delete. The first two hours of useless recording will vanish. You don't have to do it all at once. Y...

Re: Can Audaacity Convert .mov to .mp3?
Audacity is a terrible converter and it doesn't support very many formats. You should have the work already in WAV format before you even think about Audacity. I think you can use QuickTime Pro to Export a sound track for Audacity. I think MPEG Streamclip from the Apple website can do it, too. I you...

Re: Splitting vocal Tracks from instrumental Tracks
You can assume you can't split a mixed performance up into individual instruments including voices.

That's called Vocal Isolation. Some of these tools claim to be able to do that. --Voice Trap http://www.cloneensemble.com/vt_main.htm --Extra Boy http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1651.html --Kn0ck0ut http://www.freewebs.com/st3pan0va/ It's not easy. Re: Audacity Output Level
I'm doing a live human performance in front of a good microphone. This process has produced several good recordings for clients. If you're recording anything else, the rules can change a little -- but not a lot.

Re: Audacity Output Level
The 10,000 foot view of that is you watch the sound level meters or indicators. That's why almost every recording device has some means to look at the level. This is the reason there is no such thing as a simple Microphone to Line Level adapter. It's too easy to create serious show damage that way. ...
