Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

<<<Here is my latest sample.>>> I could sit in the corner, drink tea and listen to that for a long time... Hmmmmm? Oh, right. You have the microphone aimed correctly. It would never sound like that with the aiming wrong. The tonal balance is perfect (IMHO). Select a healthy chunk of that noise. Anal...

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

<<<Mic: T.Bone SC1100 Mic-computer interface: T.Bone USB MicPlug>>> Well, that's painful, isn't it? Apparently, nobody makes those microphones. Thousands of people sell them, but Google has no idea who manufacturers them, where, or why. From the little I got from the ads, the SC1100 is a condenser m...

Re: Just got Audacity 1.2.3 and UCA202...trouble

If you have a newer Mac, you will never get Audacity 1.2 to work right. It's not supported on Intel Macs under Leopard or Snow Leopard. Run Audacity 1.3.11 or 1.3.12. Change the setups in the Audacity Preferences to 48000, 16-bit, Stereo and restart Audacity. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > ...

Re: Not saved project properly

If this has happened multiple times, maybe you should not be saving a Project. Export As WAV to get a simple, stand-alone sound file that you can manage just like all other files. The _data folder with all the fragments in it is the actual show in highly fragmented form. The aup file pulls it all to...

Re: Moving Tracks and Keeping Rhythm

That's a cousin to the Great Beat Per Minute problem. It's devilishly difficult to figure out which are beats and which aren't. I think it's still true that Audacity will not tell you the BPM of a cut. Similarly, it won't line the beats up because it usually can't find them. You can usually stack ea...

Re: Attenuating the sound level

<<<I was wondering if there is a way to make the sound level the same throughout the entire file? Thanks.>>> He's right. Preparing your individual voice and sound tracks ahead of time is a big deal. It always sounds funny when you produce a whole show with bouncing levels and volumes and try to fix ...

Re: Can Audaacity Convert .mov to .mp3?

Oh, and a quick note. You should download and install Audacity 1.3.11 or 1.3.12 and both of the add-ons: lame MP3 and FFMpeg. FFMpeg can speak some of the video dialects, although you still need to split off the sound track. http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can install both 1.2 and 1.3 safely, ...
