Re: EDITING QUESTION/WAVEFORM
There's a festival of problems. Audacity starts getting more and more unstable starting at about the two-hour mark. Normal consumer computers start having trouble with files longer than that. You can do longer files, but most people don't want to deal with the special conditions you need to do it. D...

Re: Need Help (if its possible)
<<<So if i am doing that low pass filter what Hz should i use for the best bass sound?>>> The one that sounds the best. Low bass notes start around 100 or so. 440 is the middle sounding note the oboe sounds at the beginning of the orchestra, so you're going to be below that. It's totally up to the n...

Re: Can't hear previously recorded track
Go into Audacity > Preferences and set "Play tracks while recording new ones." Restart Audacity.
You might also want Software Playthrough. That will let you hear the music you're recording -- but late.
Restart Audacity.

Re: Need Help (if its possible)
You cannot pull a mixed performance back apart into individual instruments. In the case of the bass line, you may get something useful with the Equalizer tool. Select a sample of the music and Effect > Equalizer. The blue line is a rubber band and you can push it around. Build a blue line the opposi...

Re: File plays in about 1/10 second
You are trying to play a highly compressed or processed music file that Audacity doesn't understand. Audacity isn't a very good format converter. You have to already be in WAV or MP3 before you try to edit. Convert outside of Audacity with Super or Switch (download). In some cases, Audacity 1.3.11 o...

Re: How do you enable Stereo Mix or What u hear?
Three things have to happen for Stereo-Mix to be there; the right sound card, the right driver software and the permission of the operating system. If the moons and stars don't perfectly line up, there is no Mix-Out. You can use one of the software packages like Total Recorder, or, if you're on a de...

Re: Audio from HDTV (SIRIUS) to laptop mic input
Entertainment sound systems produce line-level stereo sound signals easily a thousand times louder than a microphone. That's the -56dB specification if you're keeping score. You can't easily cross them without something really bad happening.

Re: Why can't I insert silence on all tracks together?
We need to be perfectly clear you're running Audacity 1.3.11 or 1.3.12, right? Modern Macs do not support Audacity 1.2 and can become unstable. I know you posted in the 1.3 forum, but posters have been known to get it wrong.

Re: Why can't I insert silence on all tracks together?
<<<What am I doing wrong?>>> How many tracks do you have? <<<audacity said I had room for 231 minutes of recording only tried to save 25 min >>> Are you having troubles saving a performance? That's different from the poster who is having timeline management problems. Are you using illegal filenames?...

Re: Cannot record streaming audio in Win XP
It's not always Visa. It's usually not the operating system. The ability of the computer to record itself is a juggling act between the sound card, the card programmers and the operating system. If anybody drops the ball anywhere, that's the end of the story. Macs, for example don't support this at ...
