Re: Trying to isolate sound in a certain frequency...

The bottom one is a Flash presentation, so there's no good way to capture it without a lot of work. Did you decode the Morse OK? I can almost still do that if I play it enough times. Something "R" something....

Re: Trying to isolate sound in a certain frequency...

You can (in Audacity 1.3) apply a high-pass filter lower than your work and then a low-pass filter higher than your work. Whatever is left is all the work in the middle with no competition from higher or lower frequencies. Do you have any idea what you're expecting to find? Is the frequency importan...

Re: Plz HELP! Recording Skype with Audacity on Windows 7

<<<Tons of other podcasts do things this way including adding music>>> Maybe you can get them to tell you how they did it. Then post back here. Nobody here has ever been able to get that to work, and some very talented people have tried. As you noted, there are a lot of false leads out there. We all...

Re: can't edit multitrack

Do you like to record internet audio or YouTube? To do that, you need "Mix-Out" or "What-U-Hear" selected as the recording source in the Windows Control Panels. That's exactly what you don't want selected when you're doing live performances. This is a page with instructions how t...

Re: Plz HELP! Recording Skype with Audacity on Windows 7

Pamela Professional and Pamela Business will record conversations both directions and put them on their own track (left and right) for processing later. You an easily mix them into a completed podcast in post production. I believe you can force Total Recorder to do this as well. All other combinatio...

Re: TRYING to get more than a flat line

You need to give us a few more hints.

What kind of Windows machine and by who? Laptop? Which version of Audacity exactly?

What are you trying to record? YouTube? Are you singing into a microphone? What kind of microphone? USB?

Re: imported wav file won't play

I don't know why I thought you were in Audacity 1.3. You aren't, are you? Can you download and install Audacity 1.3.11? http://audacityteam.org/download/ 1.2 is no longer supported and if you run into problems (like now), that's pretty much the ball game. You can put both 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine...

Re: Problems with VST plugin: Carillon 1.2

Audacity is frequently the victim of badly written or incomplete plug ins. There was one Audacity version that never made it past startup because it would scan for plugins first. Bad plugins, no Audacity. That wasn't popular. Did you google for the additional software? Are they available from the pr...

Re: Upping bit rate on export on a file that is less on impo

The act of compressing a sound file burns the damage into the sound. Modern destructive compressors (almost all of them) work by throwing away quality. You can force capture systems to download the music at some very high bitrate, but what you get is a show with very, very good, clear compression da...

Re: Emphasize voice

<<<normalise or amplify to emphasise the voice (make it louder)>>> Both Normalize and Amplify change everything. They won't make the voices louder than the background noise. <<<you could compress to emphasise it (still more louder) >>> Dynamic Compression will reduce the volume of the voices and inc...
