Re: About using guitar distortions and vocoders etc

Yeah. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except record and play.

Re: New plugin "Super Bass Cut"

You'll never be able to filter out 420Hz. 440 is the tone of the oboe at the beginning of the orchestra. 440 is considered the "Middle" of the audio spectrum, not at one extreme. We need to solve the hum problem, not filter it out later. What kind of turntable is it? Analog or USB? If anal...

Re: static in background with voice recording

Crackling like breaking wooden matchsticks? Is this a USB headset? Try another different USB connection or unplug and replug a number of times to try and push any dirt away. Restart the machine (not just Audacity) with the headset connected. Have you checked if you have enough room on your hard driv...

<<<firewire is obsolete cause apple dropped it >>> Except for the FireWire connection still included on all the higher end equipment. Re: Trying to isolate sound in a certain frequency...

Sine waves (pure whistle) tend to only have one peak on the spectrum. Square waves or waves with clipping or overload damage have harmonic energy at odd numbered frequencies. 60, 180, 300, etc. It's one of the ways distortion analyzers work. Suck out the original pure sine wave and anything left is ...

Re: Trying to silence only a portion (5sec) of a song?

Managing voice only in a mixed performance is very difficult (impossible). If you just want to mute all the instruments and singers in a segment, select the area you want to mute and Command-L. That will leave all other parts of the song alone except for a blank spot.

Re: Voice sound like radio/speaker

Excellent, but no. Nothing up to 300, then leap up to normal volume and go to 3000, then drop dead. So you're missing one point in the curve. The Up to 300. You should experiment with moving the 3000 point further up or down frequency to get different effects. Effect > Leveler may only be available ...

Re: Selection of Waveform

I don't know that we can tell a whole lot from a super-zoomed in picture. Can you post another screen grab that shows the whole Audacity work window including all the tools at the top? You can shrink Audacity so it doesn't cover the whole screen. You can make Audacity "start over" by trash...

Re: Voice sound like radio/speaker

You can get close in a hurry with the equalizer set to telephone numbers -- only pass 300 to 3000 -- and then push the sound through the leveler effect at "heaviest" settings. Maybe more than once. If you personally are going to be the voice, get really close to the microphone and don't wo...

Re: Trying to isolate sound in a certain frequency...

I sat through the whole thing on headphones. It may not be content. It be author. There was a sound design author that used to create these vast panoramas of mixed sound like that. Of course, I can't remember his name.
