Re: Out-of-Phase click
If we're transferring a phonograph record, that can be two different errors. A cat hair can move the stylus straight up and down and give you one error and groove damage can move the stylus straight sideways and give you the other one. Stereo music is diagonal in the groove. Up-right to lower-left f...

Re: Guitar solos Sound awful - hhhhelp!
This process is a lot easier in Audacity 1.3.11 because the tools are easier to read. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/100Hz_Rumble.jpg Effect > Equalizer. This is a low frequency rumble filter I designed. It helps get rid of metrobuses driving by. Each of those little dots on the line are adjustment ...

<<<I got sound (the "clip" light illuminated, so I knew I was getting a signal.)>>>
That's a valid diagnostic test, but you didn't leave them on, did you? During the show, those lights tell you the amplifier channel is turning your show into popcorn.

Re: Ringing in Conversion from Wav to MP3
<<<the world today thinks mp3 is high fi and anything "better" sounds strange to them>>> Unless the bubbling gets too bad and then it sounds strange to everybody. Editing is about control. If you do production in a compressed format it gets progressively worse and you have no control over ...

We live on model numbers, manufacturer's names and fine details. Who made your microphone? What kind of computer do you have?

Re: external Sound Card
<<<the sound card is connected >>>
So it is an external sound card?
Sometimes you can eliminate a lot of problems right away by resetting Audacity preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Audacity wakes up in 44100, 32-bit, mono and nobody supports that.
Restart Audacity.

Re: Tempo problems
Neither one. I believe the poster is playing back his track and singing to it and then the two performances match at the beginning but not the end. Did I hit it? Cheap, inexpensive sound cards that don't cost very much have different electronics in the record and playback sides. Sometimes very diffe...

Re: PVC Pipe Microphone Vibration Mount
<<<A real life Macgyver>>>
I wouldn't go that far. PVC pipe has been involved in do-it-yourself projects since the dawn of recorded history. See: pipe organ, towel holder, wine rack, etc.
No great Macgyver-like theatrical stretch there.
