Trust me, "Beta" and "Unstable" were not our idea. If, for example, you're on a New Mac, you would find that "Stable" Audacity will not run at all.
Sorry to appear curt. It cranks our knickers when we're not allowed to fix something this easy.

Re: Suddenly No Sound
<<<I would also like it if someone could help me with the typing the file name and causing a shortcut issue.>>> That one at least is easy. Newer Macs do not support Audacity 1.2. Download and install Audacity 1.3.11. You can have both versions on your machine, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1....

Re: Meters say input but no sound
Sometimes when you plug in a USB device, the computer assumes it needs to send the playback sound back out to the turntable. It makes it very hard to hear the show like that. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Audio > Output. Select built-in speakers or wherever you want the sound to go. I know...

Re: Silencing part of a track causes Audacity to Crash
I don't know of any option. Corporate IT policies tend to be bolted in steel -- usually for some very good reasons.

Re: Silencing part of a track causes Audacity to Crash
<<<unfortunately, as long as 1.3 is labeled as a Beta version>>> Yes. This comes up now and again. The developers refuse to rename the version or stop using the "unstable" character. A big mistake according to us down here on the front. For example, if you're on a newer Mac, Audacity 1.2 w...

Re: Audacity crashes when trying to open
Development in Audacity 1.2 halted somewhere during the Harding administration. Only Audacity 1.3 has the latest drivers, code, and modules. You can install 1.2 and 1.3 safely as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2. Remember in about the second message some...

Re: Audacity crashes when trying to open
You never said the magic words: "I tried Audacity 1.3.11."

I didn't catch that you're in Audacity 1.2. Download and install 1.3.11. You can install both safely, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2. Audacity 1.3.11 is very nearly a different program. It's had all the recent development and no it's not "unstable." ...

Re: Audacity crashes when trying to open
I think there are extra command and response steps needed during remote login that aren't there when you're sitting in front of the computer. Audacity is easily confused.
Of course, if you wanted to develop a secure, stable remote login for Audacity, the developers would be glad to have you.

We assume it stopped recording?
Are you on a Windows machine? We urge Windows people to post in the Windows forum. It saves us a lot of work.
Did you finally fill up your hard drive? I can tell you how to check when you tell us about your computer.
