Re: Can hear noise but no visible change in the waveform
The Audacity tools wake up from First Birthday set for editing, cutting, and effects. If you need to do sound analysis, you need to change the tools around a bit so see what you're doing. If you do extensive high-loudness work, then Waveform dB will be almost useless to you because all the work will...

Do you have a laptop and do you know if you have a microphone in your laptop?

Re: Make recoding sound like speakers
<<<Those look great. Any chance you guys know a pre-done filter? I searched but didn't find anything (at least not with my search terms).>>> Try the Leveler set to maximum -- maybe more than once. Then apply the equalizer or high pass filter set to 400 or so. All this in Audacity 1.3.11. There is no...

Re: Make recoding sound like speakers
A note. The train announcement would come from a speaker relatively close to you and would be mixed with natural train noises -- assuming everything is moving. The platform announcement would have the echo on it, reflections from the long platform. The script writers would have a man do the announce...

Re: Meters say input but no sound
And Audacity is the only thing misbehaving, right?
Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O
Is that set right? The speaker icon slider on the main work window is turned up?

Re: playback stopped - loud continuous hum noise
Were you recording from the internet? If you have Mix-Out selected in your Windows Control Panels, it's really easy to get feedback and odd noises when you're finished recording. You can turn the record level down or deselect Mix-Out in the Windows Control Panels. Windows Control Panel http://audaci...

Re: Input not loud enough
Missed a step. You're using a USB connection, so you won't need the Line-In, but you still need the Phono Preamplifier somewhere.

Re: Input not loud enough
Is there a "Phono-In" listed anywhere in that system? A straight, non digital turntable will not plug directly into a sound system. Sound on a record is intentionally damaged slightly to fit in the grooves. A Phono Preamplifier takes the damage out and boosts the sound. Most living room en...

Re: Can hear noise but no visible change in the waveform
OK. I got the track. Those bumping and clicking noises are clearly visible in the Waveform dB setting and they're always visible on the -60dB sound meters. They're only on the left and there is otherwise a good background hiss level. Not so much on the right which has a relatively high hiss level, b...

Re: Can hear noise but no visible change in the waveform
<<<Looks like a bug to me.>>> It will look like a bug to us when two or three hundred other people complain about the same thing. I couldn't access your test. Do the sound meters move during the noise? The sound meters will indicate sounds much more quiet than the blue waves. You can reset the blue ...
