Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed

Oh, yes. Before we leave this completely. Can you post that picture of proper microphone placement?

Re: how to hear song you are recording over

Best in Audacity 1.3.11. Windows? Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > Play Tracks While Recording New Ones. Audacity 1.3.11 gives you the ability to advance and retard the sync between playback and your real, live voice. That's called Latency. Even if you sing perfectly on the beat, it may not record l...

Re: Podcast studio usb setup help!

<<<but I cant get the piano that I am playing off a website to record with it.>>> Yes. That's correct. Audacity will only record one "thing" at a time. Your PodCast device is one thing and internet audio is a different one. You can set up to record either one. You did miss one complexity. ...

Re: Sound playback on a Mac

<<<For whatever reason I can download the selections with USB codec>>> So you're obliquely admitting that you have a USB sound device between your tape machine and your Mac, right? That's important because many computers assume that the USB device needs to manage the sound both directions, not just ...

Re: Possible to split MP3 file into original tracks..

How are they combined? End of 1 to the beginning of 2? That's pretty simple. If both voices are playing at the same time on a mono mixdown. You're dead.

Re: my client can't hear my files

<<<It is known that exporting as MP3 from Audacity Beta (only tested I think from 32-bit projects) produces MP3s with slightly different peak volumes >>> Except that we're not talking about slightly different volumes. We're talking the clients couldn't hear enough of the performance to evaluate it a...

Re: Trying to sound like a little girl

We like to point out that Lauren Bacall's voice was lower than Humphrey Bogart. "You know how to whistle, don't you?" "You put your lips together...and blow." I've never been mistaken for a woman, I'm a bass, but I've played a woman for voice work. Get really close to the microph...

Re: Trying to sound like a little girl

The problem with voice pitch change is you can't change everything. If a normal large man and a little girl both said the word "mom," it wouldn't be a stretch to figure out who was speaking, but if they both said "sss," suddenly it's much harder to tell. Sounds like plosives and ...

Re: Warming up digital tracks

MiniDisk is a digital recorder and should not do that.

Pull down Piano2 and Left-Right from here...

http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html

Send them through your "warming up" pathway and let us know when you get done. Export the new work as WAV. DO NOT go through MP3.
