Scroll down.
Now I got 'em all in one place, it's a lot easier to whip through the tests.
And no, nothing in the building so far has refused to play the ones that I tried.

Re: Startup error
Move the temp file back manually outside of Audacity. Once you mess with the Audacity Structure all sorts of messy things happen.
You can make Audacity start from First Birthday by trashing the config file. I have no idea where that is in Linux.

Re: Blue Mic in Mono?
"Converting" the Blue Snowball capture show from mono to stereo is a snap...in Audacity 1.3.11. http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can put both versions on your machine safely but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2. Tracks > Add Mono Track > Select Track ...

Re: Line-in recording, gone flat
Two items. If you launch Audacity fresh and click one inside the red recording meters, they will wake up and meter the incoming sound without you going into full record. I think Audacity 1.2 will allow you to move the meters onto your desktop and make them very much bigger so they're easier to see. ...

Re: mute sound on pc
Most Windows machines have a speaker icon in the lower right of the desktop. Launch that and either turn it down, or use the mute button. You are warned that if you are recording Internet Audio, that may kill your capture. Mix-Out is a complicated beast and it uses abnormal sound pathways. I ran int...

Re: Resuming recording post editing
That steps dangerously close to the problem that Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except record and play. Not Record-Edit-Record -- at least not in the older version.
In Audacity 1.3.11, you have Append Record [Shift-R].

Re: Under-records... or distorts
Do you have the switch on the back of the USB device set to Phono. Stop that. That's what's overloading. Set it to Line and the level problems should go away.

Re: how to make sound effects CD
<<<with no silence at the beginning you can cue it quite accurately >>> Maybe not for sound mixing and theatrical production. CD cueing can never get more accurate that the once-around time of the disk -- unless you're on a production console or a dance mixer/desk. Once you press play (or remove pau...

Re: Program is cutting out silence in recording
Audacity 1.3 has a Preference called Smart Recording. You can turn that off. Restart Audacity.
