Re: Which ver for Sound Activated recording? 1.2.6 or 1.3.11

I don't know. Newer Macs didn't support 1.2.6 even when it was current. We can wait for one of the Windows elves to drop by.

Don't let the "Unstable Beta" label fool you. We wish the Developers would let us change it. Audacity 1.2 hasn't been the flagship product for a long time.

Re: Help Using External Microphone

If they put the sum of the two capsules on the tip of the connector, then it would work if you plugged into the Mic-In of a Windows PC, including the laptops. However, you don't have a Windows PC. Macs do not directly support external microphones. The two connectors on the side of your MacBook are h...

Re: no aup file

AUP isn't a sound file. It's a project manager -- a bookkeeper. It's job is to point to all the other files in your show so the Audacity Export tools can make a sound file. Do you remember what you called the project? I mean the exact name? You can get into more trouble here than you think. It's mos...

Re: buzzing noise in the background

OK, so the playback side of the computer seems to be working. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time on record or playback (it's a common feature request), so whatever is happening, the Windows machine is producing it. Audacity gets all of its sound services from the machine. Try this. Go into Au...

Re: Hum removal plug-in

Yes, but. There's only 20dB difference between the third harmonic and the 19th. The one that I generated is much worse starting out; the fundamental is only a handful of dB down. I have a much better finger than you do (I live under high tension wires). There is serious trash out so far only dogs ca...

Did that music clip sound OK when you played it in Audacity?

Re: Which ver for Sound Activated recording? 1.2.6 or 1.3.11

You can certainly install both safely, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2

Any time there's a race, we will always send you to 1.3. Audacity 1.2 is no longer under development or active support.

Re: Can't change high speed playback of recoding

Control-Click on the WAV file and Open With > QuickTime Player.

Command-I to open up the INFO panel. What does that say?

Pull piano2.wav down from here...

http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html

It's six seconds long. Does that play OK?
