Re: Audacity recording phone call
There are special machines that allow recording both sides of a copper phone line telephone call. They are very expensive and only people like radio call-in shows have the good ones. Many people make cheap phone taps, but they do not boost the far voice, so your voice is very much louder than the pe...

Re: Repair vs. Silence or Draw Tool
<<<Draw would work better if one could use Splines and Lines instead of manipulating individual samples.>>> I remember a very old Audacity posting about that. If you change the brightness using curves in Photoshop, you choose one point and Pshop will redraw the entire curve to what the scene would l...

Re: Preamp for ION TTUSB
The USB turntables have the RIAA equalization and signal boosting built in. You plug the USB cable into the computer and the rest is up to the machines.
Only the analog turntables need the external Phono Preamplifier.

Re: Which ver for Sound Activated recording? 1.2.6 or 1.3.11
Oh, you're on Windows. Audacity 1.2 puts its preferences in the Dreaded Windows Registry. Audacity only made that mistake once. There are special tools to remove it (if you need to).

Re: Which ver for Sound Activated recording? 1.2.6 or 1.3.11
<<<I can run both at the same time.>>> No. You can't. You can safely install both but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.2 leaves a preferences file behind that succeeding versions use so you don't have to put all your preferences in again. It survives the death of 1.2. As a side issue, you install ...

Re: no aup file
Be sure and check the available room on your computer! If Crash Recovery fills up your hard drive, you may discover that the computer will not start. I'll print that in red if you want.

Re: no aup file
<<<certainly could be a user error issue!>>> We never admit that. It's never user error. The computer always did something evil. Without the bookkeeper, the AUP file, you're staring at a vault full of money/clips and have no idea who owns what. Crash Recovery is about the only hope. Koz

Re: Recording Issues
I had one of my machines do that -- recently. It was startling. The recording was technically perfect in every way, but the playback was terrifically overloaded and distorted. Export As WAV so you have a perfect copy of the show, Save As Project, too, just in case, and restart Audacity.
