Re: Audacity don't record

FireWire? Are you on a Mac? I'm trying to follow your sound pathway and I can't. You should have one device doing the A to D and that plugs into the computer for recording. Plug the headphones into the computer and set Audacity to let you hear the show. I think you have way too many boxes and cables...

Re: Input level gradually decreses while doing voice recordi

Windows machines are business computers and are designed for audio and video conferencing to the home office in Switzerland. Because of that heritage, the sound channels frequently have automatic volume control and communications echo cancellation on by default. Your job is to find it and turn it of...

Re: Removing Background Music From Songs

<<<japanese singles all come with a karaoke track without the voice>>> Because they were made that way in the studio? Karaoke is or was a big deal in Japan and I'm not shocked to find that karaoke versions of the song are issued right along with the regular performance as a standard product. Right u...

USB Illustration

I posted a new illustration of USB-A. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/usb-a.jpg This goes with: "Is your turntable plugged into your computer with one of these?" I know I should be able to find one of these on a Google Search, but I can't. Their illustration is always part of a much larger ...

Re: First Act USB guitar cable won't recognize

Which Windows?

Do you know if the device uses ASIO software or drivers? Audacity doesn't get along very well with ASIO software. If you're in Win7, you should go straight up and see if there are any driver or software updates. Audacity supports the Windows drivers just fine.

Re: Help me please - can not open my project

The problem with doing the TextEdit thing is TextEdit's insistence on folding lines. The real AUP file looks a lot more like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg ...and I think even one of those is folded over. Anyway, if you're convinced that you found the error, correct it. Stop. Either...

Re: Hum removal plug-in

There you go, guys. Pull Dr. Pinder out of the mud.

http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 098#p79475

Scroll down to the Cast The Net sermon.

Pull down the stereo show and either invert one track, or delete one track and use that.

Re: buzzing noise in the background

<<<If we can eliminate all the humming in the background then it's perfect. But I don't want to ask too much >>> S'OK. We use real-world performances like this to refine and develop tools. We can certainly affect the hum, but whether we can do it without damaging Dr. P is open for discussion. You th...

Re: Record Voicemail to PC

<<<Does anyone know how to do this?>>> I bet I can force it to work, but it may be seriously awkward. Details on the handset. Who made it? Model numbers. I'm using a Palm Treo 600 at work. Where did you get the cable from? Is it the company's dub cable, or did you walk into Radio Shack and get one w...

Re: Cannot open lamelib for saving to mp3

You may need to solve two problems. Audacity 1.2 is not supported on new Macs. Sometimes it doesn't run at all. Pull down and install Audacity 1.3.11 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ Then the current version of the lame library should install and work perfectly... http://audacityteam.o...
