We should also remember that the Audacity Team is struggling under the stress of not one but two Audacity revision upgrades.

Re: ACX-Check stopped working
I have no idea what's happening. We should remember I'm not a Windows elf.
The only ACX Check failures I know of are noise oddities and an inability to check an hour show in one go.
This is where we wait for a forum senior elf to swoop in.

Re: Recording with laptop mic while headphones plugged in
I use one for my Mac which has no mic-In. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/olympus_TP7Blowup.jpg Pretend the machine on the right is a Mac. That is a special purpose microphone. Also pretend I have headphones plugged into the other socket of the adapter. They're separate which is the point. A...

Re: Can't export .wav tracks properly lined up
Which Audacity do you have? I'm fuzzy remembering there was an old Audacity problem where it wouldn't acknowledge leading silences. No matter where you shifted the track in editing, it would start in exactly the same place in the export. Again, fuzzy memory. Create a new silent track the length of t...

Re: Recording with laptop mic while headphones plugged in
The socket on the side of most laptops is for a headset, combination of headphones and microphone. This is for chat and conferencing where that is the safest, easiest, and cleanest solution. And cheapest since they only have to give you one socket. The last thing you want is both microphones to rema...

Re: For edits, why work with sample format at 32 bit?
Would I even need to worry about my sample format set to 32 bit-floating I think you're changing more stuff than you need to. If you don't edit the actual music, just turn dither off. 32 Float is the Audacity default and it becomes completely transparent under those conditions. 16 > 32 > 16. Koz

Re: For edits, why work with sample format at 32 bit?
You know CDs don't have song titles. right? When you play a CD, the player tries to go on-line to figure out what the song titles are. If I take a CD out to my pickup with no internet connection, the songs are Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. There's another trick to this, too. Almost every time you ...

I bet a lot of chocolate they didn't solve the great recording from Skype or Zoom either, other than doing it through their new media center.KCRW has a whole 'recording from home' guide..

Re: For edits, why work with sample format at 32 bit?
I don't think I'm going to be causing any overload as I am just adding labels. It's easier to do than you think. Import a good quality, uncompressed WAV file that gets close to overload, but doesn't hit it. Export as a medium quality MP3. MP3 creates cleverly hidden sound distortion (on purpose) an...
