Re: Crashing after recording something long
<<<Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz.>>> Because of that, can we assume you're in Vista or Win7? Support for the very old Audacity 1.2 is getting ratty. The elves are using Audacity 1.3 for their production work and we recommend you do, too. http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can safely put both versions ...

Re: Deleting saved projects
Many programs will not allow you to destroy work. You have to close the program and then destroy the work. When I Save Project As, I do it to the desktop so all this stuff is immediately available. Load a simple, short sound file and File > Save Project As, and look where Audacity is planning on put...

Re: Error opening project
Nothing stands out as being particularly evil. The show would have come in about 5 or 6GB which should have fit. It should not have been a speed problem because it crashed after the live capture. What happened when you tried Crash Recovery? Recovery is intended to look at your capture work and piece...

Re: Error opening project
You violated a bunch of Best Practice rules. OSX 10.5.8 1.5GHz PowerPC G4 1.5GB RAM Audacity 1.2.6 Strike one is not that you have a G4, Strike one is trying to run Leopard on it. Yes, I know Apple assures us you can do that, but the video people found out right away that the last really stable OS f...

Re: copy-paste: Bug Report OSX
Flesh that out a little. You have an hour long show on stereo track one. You select a portion of that show and Copy. You Track > New Stereo Track and now you have a blank Stereo Track Two. You paste into Stereo Track Two and you don't get the whole original Copy clip?

<<<The G5 chip had a known bug when Apple sold it. >>>
Known by whom? Link? We have multiple G5 machines across the company and produce thousands of hours of work. This is the first I heard of this bug.

Re: Music Removal?
What exactly were you listening to? You can adjust your Windows machine by accident to produce feedback and if the frequency is high enough, it will hurt your ears but you won't be able to tell why. Go into Windows Control Panels and make sure you don't have Mix-Out, Stereo-Mix, Or What-U-Hear selec...

<<<On sound quality I think I prefer the first take.>>>
I think the second one sounds a bit more mellow and pleasant, but I think this went beyond my ability to improve it a long time ago.
Can you get to a larger hallway?

Re: budget (usb) mic for classical guitar recording needed
It just keeps going up, but the theatrical balance of the music goes crazy, plus, in a cardioid microphone, the proximity bass boost goes up. None of that sounds very good.

Re: 3.5mm mic's into mixer output to pc?
Missed one. Yes, you can totally build a battery inserter for your existing headsets. I've done that multiple times using the posted wiring diagram, but you do need to park the circuits inside a metal box because you are messing with tiny, tiny voice signals and they need to be shielded. After that,...
