Have you thought how you're going to mix six dry microphone signals down to one show?

Re: 3.5mm mic's into mixer output to pc?
<<<Is it possible to have all 6 battery inserters in the same box or is that a bad idea?>>> That makes my head hurt. The conservative Engineer is screaming they all need to be separate, but the analytical Engineer can't think of a reason why not put them in one box. You could get crosstalk between t...

Re: Audacity freezing, skipping and crashing?
<<<Does Audacity have a track #-limit?>>> I don't believe there's an internal limit. However, there are certainly machine limits. Audacity works internally at a very high quality and it doesn't matter the input and output quality. This means your machine has to be able to handle all your tracks as i...

<<<I listened and decided not to touch it.>>>
The only reason I ever change any of his settings is to match somebody else's compression. Most of the time it's good out of the box.

<<<It's amazing.>>>
In fact.
I tried it a couple of times and posted to his web site, "You have no idea what you have here."

Re: Another highly dynamic recording problem
The compression tools in Audacity are an exercise in arithmetic and programming. Chris started out life wanting to gracefully tame musical presentations. Big difference. Chris has tools to avoid processing foot shuffles and yet still calm the great variations in volume in the main performance. Highl...

Re: MP3 distortion
I join the people who don't think this is an original capture problem. I intend to confirm the original is clean (when I get home) and compress it to MP3 myself.

Re: MP3 distortion
That won't help, but didn't you say you were using a USB microphone? What exactly is your signal pathway? Start at the wind screen of the microphone and work forward. It will take me a while to get to this, but you can do some preliminary work by figuring out exactly which lame and Audacity you have...

Re: 3.5mm mic's into mixer output to pc?
<<<Thanks again for the help, I haven't mentioned it in a couple posts.>>> It's not entirely fluffy. Every so often somebody doing something completely unusual will hit a technique or tool that nobody's heard of before. That's valuable for everybody else on the forum. It is a dialog and you are dial...

Re: Carrousel CD Player Recording to PC
If you have a stand-alone player, then you would be capturing the high level, stereo show to your computer. Does your computer have Stereo Line-In? Most laptops don't. Macs and Deskside PCs do. The little pink Mic-In doesn't work. For one thing, it's mono, so you only get "left" of the ste...
