Re: click sound

The show blue waves should hover around the zero mark like this...

That downward shift in your show is not normal and indicates damage.

Re: click sound

Before you edit or apply tools, Effect > Normalize > [X] Remove DC. Don't check anything else.

Next time you insert silence or do any editing or effects the show should not pop.

Re: Help with removing noise from one side of recording

That is the intended way to use Pamela. Split the stereo track with the tools in the left black arrow drop-down menu. That will allow you to apply effects and tools to one side without affecting the other. When you get everything the way you like it..... Wait, you're in the wrong Audacity. The track...

Re: Increase input volume for system sound

Before we go too crazy... What are you trying to record or capture? I don't think you ever addressed that in your post. Are you playing a guitar in front of a microphone? Sound cards vary enormously in their ability to deal with microphones. Are you trying to record Internet Audio? That process chan...

Re: Rendering Volume question.

This started out such a nice easy answer. What's the show? Are you capturing an internet performance? How are you setting the computer speaker volume? The size of the blue waves and the bouncing of the green sound meters -- in general -- are a direct indication of the volume of the performance and i...

Re: The audio sounds like crud

You are almost certainly trying to record your computer's built-in microphone instead of the turntable. I'm searching for a tutorial on this. I'm not a Windows Weenie, so I can't help you very much. You need to go into Windows Control Panels and select the turntable for recording. That's when I get ...

Re: MP3 distortion

There are certainly other ways to do this, but this way is bulletproof. If the track has one blue wave and it says mono on the left, then it's almost certain you will achieve a nearly perfect MP3 - 128 export. <<<Think I owe you a lunch, lad. Hope I don't have to fly to LA to deliver.>>> Not just LA...

Re: MP3 distortion

One more. QuickTime Player has some interesting tools you can use so tell you where you are. Open the music file in QuickTime Player and press Command-I to get the info panel.

Re: MP3 distortion

Half the fun of the forum is being able to read what you didn't type. If you have two blue waves one above the other... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg ...then you're going to get a stereo file on export. Tracks > Stereo Tracks to Mono should condense your show to one blue wave...

Re: MP3 distortion

<<<However, I THOUGHT I was outputting mono @ 128kbs, not stereo. >>>

I can almost guarantee you weren't. I can recreate your damage any time I want with Stereo 128 settings. The vocal show goes almost perfect at mono 128.
