Re: MP3 distortion

<<<but highly relevant to understanding the finished product I'm turning out.>>> You may be chasing the wrong rabbit. It's not the equalization that's killing you. It's that the equalization is digital and they didn't use a high enough sound quality inside the mixer to eliminate damage and artifacts...

Re: MP3 distortion

Two compression stories: Everybody has a shaky idea how MP3 compression works. MP3 compression carried too far will turn three Tesco/7-Eleven violins and one Perlman/Strad into four Tescos. It gently removes quality and it really is difficult to hear it working, even when it's being overdone. That's...

Re: MP3 distortion

<<<The A/B comparison between the two doesn't reflect anything audible.>>> It wouldn't. A dip into compression theory again. A perfect destructive compressor gets rid of the odds and ends in the show that you're not going to hear anyway, so who cares? All lame's operation should be down in those are...

Re: Audacity help

Open two of the sound files. It doesn't matter which windows they're in. Go to the second one and Edit > Select > All. Copy. Go the first one. End > Paste. Repeat. The more modern Audacity versions make this a little easier, but there is still no one-step tool to stack sound files like that. It's a ...

Re: Help with removing noise from one side of recording

<<<I have a child and she insists on making noise!?!>>> Maybe less awesome when we tell you you won't be able to take the kid out of the picture... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303353/ "Noise" in the land of Audacity is not just any undesired sound. Only very specific sounds can be removed...

Re: click sound

<<<Yeah my sound card is low quality. Do you think I should buy a usb microphone so it doesn't have to go through the sound card?>>> Yes, a USB microphone may be in order, but that's not the reason. I have a USB sound device and it has some DC offset. Quality is likely to pick up is the real reason....

Re: MP3 distortion

Would this be the same poster...? http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=25234&start=0#p72630 So this is far from a simple, plain recording setup... <<The 1222 board has individual compression in the mic chnls, along with 3 band EQ, and 7 band EQ on the output.>>> Nobody does ana...

Re: No Playback Sound

Can you hear sound from YouTube, Music CDs, Windows Media music, and DVDs?

Do you get the Windows opening and closing chimes?

Are you a Skype user?

Re: MP3 distortion

It's not the lame version. A number of us are able to recreate the damage on our own wildly divergent systems. Compression systems sometimes do that. The animators on the second floor recently created a video that would not compress to a DVD without significant damage. Would. Not. So I'm not shocked...

Re: MP3 distortion

The obvious solution is you need to present with a different voice.

Hey, if Bart Simpson can do it...
